Anyone here on Weight Watchers??

WTH happened to the program?? Points Plus was fantastic and what I'm hearing about today's roll out of "Smart Points" is not encouraging. Thoughts?

The point system was only OK IMO, but it did not encourage healthy eating habits. I think that's why they did away with it - eating McD's everyday within your point limit isn't healthy.

Agreed, the appealing part of WW though was that you could still partake in dinners out and such. Now it seems that you cant do anything except eat lean meat and veggies with no room for any types of indulgences. I lost 50+ lbs on WW over the last 5 years and in that time I was able to have a few drinks, a piece of cake here and there, go to BBQs and stuff. Now it seems like you cant do anything...

What, that sucks!!! I have had REALLY great success on WW in the past based on the pts plus system. And yes, sometimes I indulged or ate McDs but it worked. What worked is that it wasn't a "diet" perse. I was going to rejoin after the holidays....now I don't know.

I have done it on and off for years. They are always switching it up. Before points plus there was core which promoted filling foods. People at the meeting were upset also but I am going to try and stay optimistic.

I am going to my meeting tonight. I don't think the idea is ever that you "can't" but more encouraging HEALTHY eating. Its all about making choices.

Let us know how the meeting goes and if they offer any other insight into the new program!

you can always go out and eat out and have a drink. Even back on the day with the core program. I did core and ate out almost daily on it.

What the points never did was make you think about the foods you were putting in your mouth. As long as you stayed in the points you theory would lose weight but what it didn't teach you is to pick the better food and eat healthy.

I would sit in the meeting and woman were there for years playing with the same 20lbs because they never learned what to choose!

This.

When I'm trying to get a quick start on weight loss, I kinda follow the old points

I don't need to pay a company to tell me to eat vegetables and protein. I didn't mind paying them when they were helping me find ways to still have candy and indulge In White toast and still lose

Anyone here on Weight Watchers??

I am not really finding much of a difference. It's high protein low sugar nutrition based. I am not finding that much of my foods have changed. Wine is still the same points as are my pastas and meats except ALL protein and meats (including steak) are a 1oz to 1pt ratio, steak was always much more.

Side note I lost 4pounds this week!

Anyone here on Weight Watchers??

Thanks!

I just wanted to add, for me, I don't feel like I'm paying for the food side of things. For me, I'm paying for my weekly meeting. I need that meeting, I need to go there and admit that I have a problem with food, the way I see it, it is no different than an alcoholic going to AA. That's just the way I see it.

My mom works for weight watchers so she has been working the new program for the last 2 months in prep for the roll out and she lost the last 10 lbs she was struggling with.

Re: Anyone here on Weight Watchers??

I've been on WW since sept 8th. As of last Thursday I have lost 32 pounds. I did really well on the points plus system. I'm very nervous about this new program. I'm giving it a week or 2 and I am going to see.
My daily points increased as my weeklies decreases. I am still trying To keep my daily points at my old target but it's harder bc a lot of foods jumped in points. Even the WW snacks are all different. I'm very disappointed bc I really needed to loose weight and got myself to do it and reach my goal weigh and I never felt deprived on the points plus plan. This new one might change that and I am not happy.

I never did ww or any diet really. I always just ate healthy and worked out to lose weight (I always struggled with weight and have to live a healthy lifestyle to maintain).. However I have been doing the 21 day fix extreme lately. I don't really follow the meal plans to a T but I am conscious of what I take in esp During the week and I do the daily workouts. I lost 3 pounds in a week (which I wasn't trying to). But more importantly I've toned up - esp my arms and legs (still working on the tummy). But it's actually a lot of food that you eat - it helps you make healthy choices and portion control. Just thought I'd share incase you were looking for something else.

If you don't like the new plan, just follow the one you have that you like if it works for you. Not like they know what plan you follow.

It is more difficult to do that bc I (like so many) relied heavily on the app. And the app now only contains the new point values. So it changes a lot of your total points for the day and you can't be certain you are being 100% accurate with points.

I'm sure you could buy a third party app that follows the old calculations.

Anyone here on Weight Watchers??

So far, I'm liking the points... I don't know, I guess because I've gone back to WW so many times over the last 17 years (yes it's a continuous struggle, and every time I stop going to WW, I gain weight, if I stay, I don't) since I was 15, I have seen the changes over the years. While there is ALWAYS push back, there are very specific reasons why they make the changes they do.
