Wii vs. wii u
Any opinions as to which to get. Kids range in age from 3-8. Will mostly be used to play sports games.

Definitely WiiU! There was some great Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for around $250 which included 2 games. TRU currently has BOGO for 40% on games only.
TRU has this deal which isn't bad but Walmart recently had it cheaper. My 8 year old likes these games.

Wii vs. wii u
I would pay the few extra bucks for Wii U as you can still get classic Wii games to play. The store to buy online is much better and its the same thing.
