Grandma, NYC, where to go?
I want to take my Grandma to NYC. She is getting up there in years but still gets around okay. She is Italian, born in Italy.
I want to take her to lunch but would love to also take her to some sort of exhibit, museum, history type thing...something pertaining to Italy or being Italian if possible
A while back I wanted to take her to Eataly but not sure now. Also I remember years back they had an exhibition on Pompeii at the Discovery center in Times Square.
Also any ideas for amazing Italian food, something a cut above what you would normally find.
She is Sicilian but doesn't really matter what region, has traveled all over. Also she is very religious and loves her some Jesus!
Any ideas please help. Even if it is just a fabulous suggestion I welcome any help.
Thanks!

Maybe one of these has an exhibition she'd be interested in?

Re: Grandma, NYC, where to go?
Take her for the lunch tasting menu at bouley. It's not cheap but its well worth every penny and its truly spectacular. I recently took my mom and grandma there because they never go out and do something like that and they LOVED it, my grandma still talks about it, etc. We went to charming charlie afterwards and then home, but lots of fun things to do in the city if you wanted a full day.
edit: Bouley is french but seriously amazing. If you want italian I love babbo, they have a pasta tasting menu that is great but its a more youthful atmosphere. del posto is fancier great italian in a more traditional atmosphere. both will likely run you more than the bouley lunch tasting though.
you can go to st pats cathedral in midtown, its newly renovated and beautiful.

How about Ellis Island?
I thought about that but may be too much of a trip. As she is pushing 90 was trying to keep everything contained to one area without having to travel around too much.

What about Babbo or Felidia for a meal?

The tenement museum is cool. Guided tours are about an hour each.
Eataly?

Scalini Fedeli in TriBeCa. Then you could do 9/11, Ellis island, Statue of Liberty. All in downtown. Short cab rides.
Def St, Patrick's if in midtown. The tree at Rock center just got there today although not lit.
