My sister's dog, Lily, has passed on...
My sister lost her beloved dog and companion Sunday. Her name was Lily. It was unexpected. She suffered some type of neurological issue similar to an aneurysm. There was no way to prevent it or help her. The only saving grace was that it was quick and seemingly painless. She woke up, seemed ok, but couldn't walk all of a sudden. Then, she threw up. We ran her to the Vet and she passed in the car in our arms on the way. She didn't even look gone - she looked so peaceful. She was just eight years old. A miniature schnauzer. Typically they live about ten years longer so this was devastating to my sister. She was a happy, playful, and always very loving little dog - so well behaved, just a great companion.
My sister and her FH live together and he has two sons. They are five and six. They were beside themselves. Crying. We felt awful. They asked about "visiting" Lily at the cemetery. She was cremated so to help them cope I went online and had a memorial garden stone made for Lily/them for the flower bed outside my sister's home. That way the boys can "see" her there.
I used an Etsy vendor who was amazing and rushed the order for me when I explained about the boys wanting to "visit" her. He did not even charge me for the rush. He was wonderful and the finished product is so touching - we used Lily's photo. It ships tomorrow. THE SHOP IS CALLED "PICTURES IN STONE" on Etsy.

my condolences!! this is a huge shock to the system to lose a beloved pet so suddenly I feel awful for the kids, just heartbreaking!
I think the memorial stone is just beautiful.

I'm hearbroken for you all Poor children and sister I have a miniature schnauzer and he is the best dog..

How awful. Its just incredibly difficult when a pet passes on especially for kids. Hopefully the stone will bring them some comfort.

Omg how awful.
I lost my cat suddenly like that and at a very young age for a cat so I know how much worse it is when it is a shock and a relatively young animal.
I didn't have DD at the time but I can't imagine how hard it is with kids involved as well.
Love the stone you ordered, the saying made me cry.
Sorry for you and your sister's loss.

That's awful, I'm so sorry.
That stone is such a beautiful tribute. It's so difficult losing a pet. Your and your family are in my thoughts.

It's been hard for all of us bc my sister brought Lily with her everywhere. So we each feel like we lost our pet!
