I haven't read every post since I was last on but I read enough to see that I am in the minority. That's cool though.

I'm just adding the Captain Obvious of 2 cents here: people love a good story. A juicy, sensationalistic story.

I disagree.

The word "juicy" is not at all what I would use to describe this. Three babies horrifically lost their mother.

Gossiping about things like this just does nothing for me.

I don't mean to sound holier than thou, or to say I never gossip.

It's one thing to chat with a coworker about whether or not two other coworkers are fooling around.

It's another thing entirely to rehash details of the condition in which this woman was found, on the internet (and therefore permanent), for everyone to see, on a website specifically for her family's community.

It's not about free speech, and it's not even about judging her or not judging her.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. What does it add to the universe? (To be clear, I'm not talking about the people who said how sad it was, condolences, etc. That's what should be said. It's the detailed rehashing that does not need to happen.)

Just because it's in the media already, why add to it?

I think some of these posts - including but not limited to the above - are insensitive.

I just don't see where anyone was gossiping or doing anything other than discussing a story in the media. I get that she was a resident of Long Island and may have friends or family on this board, but this is a news story that is attention grabbing due to the fact that this very beautiful, respected doctor, mother of 3, was found under these conditions and reported to have been doing very questionable things. I think it is nothing but natural to talk about it, wonder, discuss what the news is reporting, etc. Today reports come out that she did have drugs in her system. I mean, people on here could be her patients…she was a community member, a DOCTOR. So yes, people will discuss. I see nothing wrong about that. And yes, people will judge if what the reports are saying is true. 3 innocent children are motherless, and a woman who appeared to have it ALL somehow wound up allowing something to take it all away. How could it not be a topic of conversation will all those factors? I feel sorry for her family more than anything else, but that doesn't mean as a human we don't have a natural tendency to question HOW could something like this happen to someone who so many see as having it all and somehow allowing to throw it all away?

I have to agree with this.

Frankly, the whole story disgust me. And yes, I am judging this woman. If I, as a mother, hung out in the city at all hours with creepy-ass dudes doing blow and died because of it, I would fully expect people to judge me too. It's just stupid, irresponsible and selfish. I would never purposely put my life in jeopardy like that now that I have children. As a doctor, she had to know that cocaine can be fatal at any time and she chose to take that risk.

From what has been reported, this doesn't sound like a one-time thing where she drank too much and got mixed up in something that caused a fatal mistake. It seems like it was habitual to some degree.

I agree. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I would never go to a doctor that does cocaine and drugs in his/her free time if I was aware. I would seriously trust their judgement and mental status. So yes, we as patients have a right to discuss such matters when the news reports them.
