Hospital for Special Surgery?
Anyone have experience with them? Positive/negative? Also any recommendations for a great surgeon to do a hip replacement?

Hospital for Special Surgery?
I have a friend who used them for hand and wrist surgery. She liked it. I don't remember her saying anything too neg, like any place be your own advocate. I do not know who she used.

My dad was there for a few weeks- he had 2 fractures in his leg and I thought that the place was excellent.

My dad was there this past year and my nephew last year. My nephew stayed overnight. Excellent care. Top notch doctors. My dad actually felt they were too over the top. He had his meniscus repaired and went home the same day and they wanted him to use a cane to walk out and he didn't want to.

My brother almost died from getting MRSA there after an ACL repair surgery. My DH did a job there and said the place was filthy. So overall, not good things to say LOL

Hospital for Special Surgery?
YES! they are amazing there! My grandma was tehre a couple of years ago for spine surgery- she was in her late 80s and they did so much for her mobility. Her doctor was Dr. Lane- I can't say enough amazing things about it. Feel free to fm if you have questions

Hospital for Special Surgery?
We (DW) will be there on Wed. They are the best and we do our homework when it comes to hospitals/dr's etc... We use Dr. Sue (SP) as he was our hip Surgeon.

Edwin Su did my dad's hip in January and he loved him.

Hospital for Special Surgery?
My FIL had hip replacement surgery there- they were excellent and I was extremely impressed when I went to visit him.
His doc is in Westchester though, so not much help there.

Hospital for Special Surgery?
A friend had back surgery there, it was a huge success.
My mom is actually having a very complicated hip surgery today. She needs to have a bunch of hardware from a hip fracture removed, then a total hip replacement. Her surgeons are Dr Jeffery Hart and Dr Douglas petracco.

I work in health care and almost everyone I know who has needed something like a hip or knees done goes there. No complaints.
Also I recently know someone who had it done in St. Francis.
Only reason I'm quoting this poster is because I know with any kind of surgery they push you to get up and get moving immediately otherwise it's supposed to be more debilitating.

St. Francis was the other place my mom was thinking about going to. i think she's going to end up going to HSS.

I had dozens of pediatric orthopedic surgeries there as a child and young adult. Without HSS and Dr Leon Root I wouldn't have been able to walk.
So...I'm biased but I love it there.

My grandmother and father were both saved by dr. david wellman. He literally saved my fathers life. Hes 1 of the top surgeons. And his bedside manner is beyond kind. He is the nicest dr's i have ever encountered and had the pleasure of meeting. He was so patient with my father and remembered my grandmother by name when we called about my fathers condition years later.
I would absolutely highly recommend him.

my aunt had a hip replacement there quite a few years ago, she was well taken care of and you would never know she had it done,
my mil had a hop replacement done somewhere else and is still not right
