Use the cart with the 2 kids seats and I plan to buckle my older one in that and put the car seat on the top part of shopping cart.

This will be my first time having a almost 2 year old and newborn. My other DC are spread apart in age.

I haven't done grocery shopping with two and don't plan too. Unless dd1 goes in the cart and dd2 is in the ergo.

For the car, I put dd1 in her seat first bc the baby is secure in her car seat/stroller. I don't want to not have a hold on dd1 when trying to get the baby in. So dd1 goes in first so I don't have the worry of her breaking lose in the parking lot.

Dd2 comes out first and is snapped into the stroller. Then I will get dd1 out and I have a free hand to hold hers.

Not there yet and I don't do a big food shop without DH but what I would do if I was doing it alone with 2 kids is have the older one in the top part of the Cart and the infant seat in the basket part. Never put the car seat on the top part. It's super dangerous and can ruin the car seat's locking mechanism, even if it clicks.

I'd pull the shopping cart close to the side of the car, put the older one in, then id go around and put the infant seat on the other side (or vice versa). I'd make sure the car was running with heat or ac (whichever is needed) and then pack up the rest of the car with the groceries.

I wear the infant in the ergo and my 3yo sits in the cart. It took a little getting used to but it works well. Some weeks I order online and do store pick up if I don't have the energy to shop!

As for your second question, typically I let my 3yo climb in on the babies side and walk over to her seat. Then I put the baby in and then go around to buckle my older one. Same with getting out, I usually take the baby out and then reach over to undo dd1's buckle and she climbs out and over to the other side. I find it much easier than getting them each in and out on different sides. I have a minivan, not sure if it would work with other vehicles.

Probably not what you are looking for but my answer is I don't go shopping without DH.

In all seriousness though my 3 year old still sits in the top part of the cart so I would keep him there and wear the baby if I HAD to shop alone.

I used wear the baby and older dd would go in the cart.
When we got to the car older did would get in first I would shut the door, then I would put baby in go and I would go back around and buckle dd 1. When we would get out, I would unbuckle dd1 and make her come out int he babies side. This way I only had to deal with one side.

Now that they are older, dd1 sometimes goes in on the dd2 side and gets right in her seat and buckles up. I buckle dd2 and go check on dd1.

I use to push the stroller with the infant seat in it and pull the shopping cart behind me. Sometimes my DD (who was 4.5 yrs old at the time) would sit in the front of the wagon. Otherwise, she walked.

ETA - I'd put the baby in first then my older DD. She knew how to stay right next to me while I got him strapped in. Once they were both in I'd load the groceries. I always leave the a/c OR heat on for them while I pack up the car.

I'm not brave enough to go shopping with the two kids by myself. When DH & I go shopping, we put the toddler in top part of the shopping cart & the infant in his car seat in the bottom part of the shopping cart & get a second cart for our stuff. I'd put the toddler in & out first since otherwise he'd try to run.

I didn't. Dd1 sat in the front part of the cart and dd2 was in an Ergo.

Infant seat goes in the cart (inside).
Older child walks (did this at 1.5 years and it wasn't fun, but worked).

Older child goes in the car first. They are mobile & more likely to have an issue in a parking lot.

For small grocery trips, car seat goes in the cart ( large basket part) and groceries are put around the car seat while older kid sits on top. For trips with larger or more purchases, I wear dd2 and dd1 sits on top.

Older kid is first one in car, last one out, because she is more mobile.

I had 2 infants. I used to put one seat in the cart and the other on top BUT I'd rig the seatbelt around the back so it wasn't going anywhere. They aren't meant to be secure in the front on their own and can tip. Now with toddlers and an infant, I'd put the infant seat in first bc it's easiest.

Older one in first (mine was 5 so very mobile).

I am very surprised that so many people won't go shopping with their kids. Did you not know that there are many "roadblocks" when having kids, and having them so close together makes it worse?

So far, I only do food shopping with DH. We take the baby in the snap n go and my older one sits in the cart. When the baby is older, maybe we'll have my son walk so the younger one can sit in the cart? Unless we're at Costco or anywhere that 2 kids can sit together.

As for getting in the car, older one goes in first so he can't run around, and then the baby who is secure in the snap n go. When we're getting in at home, baby goes in first b/c older one knows he can only stay on the driveway and not go into the street.

Before DS could sit in the cart I would only go to stop and shop and use the scan and bag as you go. I would never do crazy amount of shopping but I would put everything under the stroller in the basket

If I'm doing a small food shopping trip I usually have my 3 kids with me. The infant seat goes in the big basket part and the girls walk next to me. I spread the food out around the carrier and in the front seat part. Getting out of the car the baby gets out first then the girls follow. Getting in the girls the girls go first into their seats then the baby (they all get in on the same side usually)
If it's a major shopping I try and peapod it.

Either wear the baby and put big kid in the cart but honestly dd is the same age as your ds and she walks and helps..car seat goes in the big part and I worked around it and just leave plenty of time and bring snacks for both lol

Ps I put big kid in first because the infant seat is so easy to snap in

I grocery shop with my 2 month old and 2 year old plenty of times. I either use my double stroller which has a huge basket underneath and put my groceries there or put my 2 year old in the seat part with the infant seat in the basket.

I put my 2 year old in the car first then my 2 month old and take my 2 month old out first then my 2 year old.
