Bathing suits for Tweens
Any ideas besides target and kohls? DD is 12 but outgrown stores like Justice. She is average but some people say she looks older. I can't stand taking her to stores like Abercrombie because their sizes run sooo small it makes her feel like she is fat! This is the first year where she is not happy about wearing a bathing suit. She prefers a bikini but I prefer her to wear something with more coverage. She is almost the same size as me now (I am petite) and taller than me! But I want her to wear age appropriate styles and designs.
So tough being a female esp a female adolescent!

Doesn't just go up to 16 or 20? Maybe go with a tankini

Re: Bathing suits for Tweens
I would just hit the department stores & let her try on some tankinis.

Re: Bathing suits for Tweens
Lands End is good.. modest, athletic type of suits so she won't feel frumpy or anything...and being a teenage girl is rough

Definitely department stores, Macys, L&T, etc. They have so much variety and tons of inventory. I just bought a suit yesterday at L&T, everything is on sale now so you can get pretty good deals.
The "teenager" stores like american eagle, aero...have such minimal options and are always geared on the tiny/skinny side. It's sad and ridiculous. I hate giving those stores money!

I don't know where you are located, but in the deer park outlets, there is a bathing suit shop. They have a large range of sizes and styles and I've always done very well there. You might spend a little more than at Old Navy, but it will likely fit better, and they always have tankini's and really cute bottoms that have extra coverage, but are still super cute.

Blums in Patchogue Sears Target JC pennys
Oh and dont forget Dicks, Bobs, Sports Autority, and Models. They have athletic type swimwear so it might not be cut too small.

Re: Bathing suits for Tweens
What about the juniors dept. at Macy's? Maybe you can compromise on something like this that is a tankini, but shows a little midriff--not as full coverage as a Lands End tankini (which I prefer for myself)
tankini
Also, remind her that she isn't fat--noone likes shopping for a bathing suit!

When I was that age I used to love Lands End - you can mix and match the shapes, etc and they aren't flimsy!
