Holy $hit cards are expensive!
I LOVE getting and sending cards!!!!
I don't generally spend $7.99 for one but I love getting, YES in my real mailbox. It usually makes my day when it happens :)

Holy $hit cards are expensive!
I recently went to BBB for a shower gift off the registry in fine china. I'm waiting for them to bring out the merch so I browse their cards... $11!!! I think one woman saw the look on my face and mouthed, "I know" back to me. I only buy cards at a party goods store near my house that sells American Greetings and some other brands, none are over $1.99 Pathmark has decent prices too.

Yes!!! I recently saw a card for $7.99 at CVS and nearly passed out. It's friggin paper!!! You scribble a quick note on it and the receiver will *maybe* skim through it and then throw it out as they're shoving the gift into their pocket. It's a sin I tell ya! A sin! How many more buttons and glitter and bells and whistles can they add to a piece of card stock?? I'd rather put that $8 towards the gift.
Can we, as a society, just do away with the expectation of cards already? It's so wasteful and bad for the environment for something that gets tossed anyway. Can't we just hand over a check, cash, or gift card (which is what the receiver really wants anyway) without it sandwiched between a piece of card stock with doves flying over fields of flowers?? I'm not the type to pour my heart out into a card anyway. It's usually "Dear so and so... Best, so and so." Wouldn't the same be said by just handing over the check?? I'm sure that would be considered tacky by LIF standards LOL.
Anyway, I refuse to buy cards at CVS. I shop for cards at Dollar Tree, 99 cent store, or discount card stores.
Sorry, rant over! LOL
Yes. Cards of all kinds. Birthday, anniversary, thank you. No thanks!

Holy $hit cards are expensive!
Omg it's insane. I buy cards for my daughter to use for classmates gifts in party city be they are all $1. I buy the age cards and they are fine. I couldn't find nice Father's Day cards tho in there this year so I wound up buying in target but I refuse to pay more than 3.99 lol. I usually buy in the 50% off stores. For Mother's Day I found beautiful cards in there! I also buy in cedarhurst paper too.

Dollar tree or they are getting a 99 cent card. I refuse to spend the money.
me too. honestly most people look at the card and then end up tossing it later on or maybe a few days later anyway. its such a waste of money.

Holy $hit cards are expensive!
I only buy cards now at BJs...I even feel like the 50% off card stores are a dying breed and the cards are crappy even with the discount.

Re: Holy $hit cards are expensive!
I only buy cards for special occasions(anniversary, special birthday, etc) Instead I pick up blank notecards when I see them: Target, TJ Maxx etc. Then I write a heartfelt message, or a quote and use those cards for everything

Re: Holy $hit cards are expensive!
its ridic. our party city has them for half off but they are jacked up prices like $6.99, 7.99 for ****** cards.
I find Hallmark does have a good range of $1.00 cards, $2.50, $2.99, $3+.
In June alone we have a ton of birthdays, fathers day, etc. I spent $30 on cards at party city for crap cards.

I only get the box of cards at target. Sometimes, if I need something specific, I will go to target too.

I make my own. Buy the blank cards and stamp them. Using embossing sometimes too. Maybe a crystal or two. Costs money to build up a little supply but in the end I think you save.

Also I order hand made cards on etsy a lot! Supporting regular people and getting custom made items and cheaper! I usually spend around $3.50-4.50.

I had the same experience today! I had no idea how expensive they were! I usually buy at Dollar Tree but I haven't had time so I just ran to Rite Aid. I was like "How much?!"

Re: Holy $hit cards are expensive!
I buy cards in Rite Aid & Duane Reade all the time, but this Father's day the price really got me, b/c that was all I bought & with tax it was $7! i think other times, I don't notice bc I am buying makeup or skin/hair products & blame the high total on that.
My family is big on cards, so my mother always suggests the 1/2 stores, but that must be a LI thing b/c I have never seen one in Manhattan or Westchester.
