What is an appropriate wedding gift?
We got $500 from our close friends/ bridal party. Our average gift was $250 from guests. IMO a gift should be appreciated no matter the amount and I would give what you can afford

agree, but we are a minority. I don't feel I have to cover my food, if that's the case then I am paying for the wedding and not just a guest

Whatever you can afford. Last wedding we went to, my dh was the best man, we gave $300. It was just the two of us going.

My standard is $300 for the 2 of us, $500 if either of us are in the wedding party.

Agree, whatever you can afford. If it helps, for my wedding almost all friends gave anywhere between $200 and $500. Two couples gave a card alone. I'd say $300 was what most gave.

Re: What is an appropriate wedding gift?
I usually give ~$250-$300 for a couple. I will say though that I got plenty of gifts around $100 pp for my own NY wedding a few years ago. I think LIF has gift standards that are above average.

We do the same, but I agree that you should give what you can afford. We had people give less than the "average," but we appreciated it just the same. We know that everyone's circumstances are different and that $100 from one couple may be a lot for them...I like to think & hope that most people feel the same way :)

What is an appropriate wedding gift?
We do $150 for friends, $250 for close friends. Can barely afford that as it is.
I have 2 weddings on the same weekend coming up at the end of the month for close friends. It's going to be a huge hit but I feel awkward giving less.

Re: What is an appropriate wedding gift?
$250 - $300 is our standard amount for the 2 of us. We only give more for very close family (siblings).

there is absolutely not need to cover your plate this concept to me is just plain stupid why should I have to worry about what they paid and cover the cost. I give the same amount no matter where the wedding is held at. so with that said I try to do a minimum of $75 a person but the last/next wedding I am attending have/will be by myself and I am giving a $100
