Re: I was so sad on the train today

I'm so sorry you're feeling down. I don't have any first hand experience, but I work in the oncology field and amazing women like you are the reason I get up in the morning to go to work.

You have been incredibly strong for three years and that strength isn't going anywhere. You've been dealt an unfair pile of ******** but YOU came to on top because you beat it and I know that you'll continue to beat it.

Sending you tons of love, hugs and prayersChat Icon Chat Icon

I am so sorry you are feeling like this. (((Hugs))) to you. You are entitled to feel upset. Cancer is not something to forget once you have had it. The idea of it is always hovering. Try to think positively. Finding an enlarged lymph node is not a death sentence. Thankfully, cancer is becoming a disease that can be treated.

If you are not already on there, you might go to the breastcancer.org forums for support, information and advice.

I just told my DH this morning that I was so happy it was spring, and that I was here to see it. Better yet, that I was so happy to have had three springs since finding my lump. He looked surprised and asked if I had thought I was going to die that quickly. I said I had, because no one told me otherwise. He got all upset and told me he didn't want to talk about it.

Well, if I can't talk to him honestly, who can I talk to? So I completely get it. You are more than welcome to talk about your feelings here, and from the outpouring of support it is obvious that a lot of other people feel the same way.

I am concerned about your insurance issue. Can you buy coverage through the state or Obamacare? Or, if you are not working, would you qualify for Medicaid?

I'm so sorry, and I completely, 100000000% understand.

I often feel like life post-treatment is much scarier than during treatment. You're just kind of flung out in the world with not much more than routine follow-ups. Scans and bloodwork are downright frightening.

It's not fair. It's not fair that anyone has to go through this, ever, but especially not young adults like you and I.

I think you are feeling very normal things, given that the hand of cards dealt to you are completely not normal or average. I was at my support group tonight and one of the girls is in chemo now and she was talking about it in detail...I could honestly smell the smells of the chemo rooms and had a wave of nausea occur as she spoke. So I understand what you mean and how you feel.

And yeah - going to sleep is hard sometimes. Too many thoughts. I watch old reruns of Frasier on my iPod in bed anytime my mind is getting the best of me. Ativan is awesome too - can you ask your doctor for some to take the edge off? I don't use it much but it does help for those really rough patches.

Ty, I know you understand. I never used Ativan but when in the hospital. I was given a script for Xanax after the diagnosis a few years. The night I wrote this post I took Vicodin. I know it's used more for pain control but it helps make me numb to my thoughts and emotions, not great for sleep (not for me at least). BOY was I wasted and almost hung over the next day at work bc I took too much!!

Since a few mentioned my health coverage and being concerned. TY. I have been without medical insurance since 4/1/15 bc I changed jobs. I was told by the new job they were going to let me enroll early before probation ends as they have open enrollment starting in May. Then they changed it and said June 1 st I can start with coverage. NOW they are saying not until probation is over and it wont start until july.

Its too late for me to join the exchange. When I looked into it, the coverage would not start until 6/1/15, the same date as my work coverage so I said no.

I called around to see how much it would cost for lab work to be done out of pocket.

Plus, the cost of my new coverage is outrages. I have to pay out of pocket for my scan/sono etc bc of a large deductible. and my co-pays to see my Dr is $70. which might not be $$ to some but Im use to a $30 copay, my medication co-pay and lab co-pay is the same amount. I think the medical coverage is going to be the death of me...

$70 is a lot to have to pay for co-pays.

Can you speak to HR and tell them that you missed the date to enroll in the state exchange because you had been told, and believed, that you would be getting insurance through the company as of June 1st, and would it be possible to start on that day rather than waiting until July?

I had a spot show up at my last check up. I needed extra mammograms and a sonogram to check on it, but apparently it was just a lymph node, nothing bad. I was told that it is common for that to happen and be nothing to worry about. Try not to worry.

$70 is a lot for co-pays. My new job has terrible medical coverage and I work at a medical center.

I did tell the HR department about missing the exchange. She said she will ask the CFO this week about me starting coverage soon.

TY :)

Best of luck. I hope they will extend coverage to you. Blood work is very expensive, you need to have coverage.

I have insurance, but my doctor doesn't take insurance so I get hit with extra costs which is annoying, to say the least. My cancer doctors are fully covered, but it's my primary who does the blood work and where I have problems, but I don't want to switch doctors.

Now I find out, if I had no cobra or coverage for 63 or more days, the new insurance company can force me to wait to begin coverage an additional 90 days probation and they can considered it or label it as a pre-existing condition. I am doing my best not to feel pissed at the HR person. As of today they, (not sure if our CFO or insurance comp, will not let me start until my work probation is up
