I don't want to fight - I just want to understand why its ok for you to question authority, but those of us who may see things differently cannot.

That being said, I understand your anger. I'm angry, too. I'm angry that this whole ordeal is happening again. I'm angry that people are so nonchalant about it. I'm also angry how the media portrayed it. There have been peaceful protests, but it wasn't shown. No one listened. Not that it makes it right to riot, but people listened.

This isn't the first time for riots. Look at the history of riots (Boston Tea Party, the Haymarket affair, Stonewall riots, tons of women's riots, including one so we could vote and many more) and, sadly, they get results. You have an angry group of people with a history of having their rights denied. Something is going to snap eventually. It's just human nature, unfortunately.

I'm sorry, but it's my right to question things. It doesn't mean I'm bashing anything.

This whole thread is going around and around in circles. I'm so surprised by some responses, too.

I agree with this.

I would like to add, though, that I REALLY feel bad for the rank and file police officers who have to deal with the violent protesters.

It has to be incredibly difficult to sit there protecting people who are saying horrible things about you. I can't imagine.

I can understand their frustration at being "questioned." They're not the decision makers. They don't write protocol.

However, cops cannot be above the law. That is part of what makes this country what it is. It comes along with freedom and democracy.

Wow some of you are really just LOOKING for a fight aren't you? If you read her comment BEFORE the quote it was how does HE not get upset about what is happening! It's HIS perspective to keep him going. Here's a thought why don't you guys go volunteer in an inner city? A soup kitchen? A school? For the Police Department? Make the change you want to see. My guess is there will be a million reasons why you can't or won't or how it's not my job blah blah blah. When YOU are in trouble or need help don't even bother calling the police then......call someone in a poverty stricken minority area to help you. This is just fing disgusting. You all are 100% blameless in life. Never did ANYTHING that could have harmed someone? Never drove while tips?, Never used your cell while driving? Never broke a company policy? T+It happened, they were wrong. YOU were not there. YOU do NOT know what happened. Heck I doubt the officers don't even know exactly wtf happened. Way to be judge and jury after you all cry how dare the police do that. We hold them to a higher standard blah blah blah. Guess what those uniforms DO NOT come with capes. They do NOT come with the ability to see the future. They DO NOT make them imortal or free of mistakes. You are asking for perfection from people! How dare you sit on your computer and type about how awful these cops were and then go back to YOUR job and make a mistake or need help. It's gross.

I agree 100000000000000%.

We do not live a police state. We are human beings with minds of our own and free will. I will NOT be told that I am only productive to my country if I fight for it? I am fighting for it RIGHT NOW to break down barriers and stereotypes and to not fall victim to the apathetic masses.

I respect authority but I will not blindly submit.

I mourn the loss of ALL lives.

What does someone disagreeing with that quote have to do with liking or not liking cops?

The very reason to question things is because they are not super human, nor wear capes, and are capable of making mistakes, just like you said.

What the holy Fuq? Because I think the police officer were wrong in this situation, I hate all cops? I can't call them? And don't call the cops but call someone in the poor stricken communities? I know because they are all savages and beast that live there. I already posted that I have first hand experience in that environment and added my perspective but that goes unnoticed on threads like this. You'll just keep quoting and spinning it so it sounds like we hate and have no respect for cops. Which is far from the truth so I don't know what is even the debate on this thread. Police officers are not always right.

These threads are what make me dislike LIF, the ignorance and racial bias make me want to puke.

And FYI Baltimore is bad, like the wire wasn't an exaggeration bad. Police brutality is very real and against all races.

Exactly.

And really? Like it, don't like it, love it... whatever. I couldn't care less.

And if it makes someone feel ill that's fine. Anyone else's opinion of my boyfriend or me means, honestly, less than nothing to me.

Until you have been shot at like he has, don't even.

Re: Prosecutors Charge 6 Baltimore Officers in Freddie Gray Death

I feel this is getting very sides and we all need to find the medium

Should we be able to question out authority ..absolutely

Should we come
To the realization that things are going on because many do not respect authority Absolutely

There has to be pull on both sides.

I don't know all the specifics but obviously if those cops had a single hand in hurting Freddie grey they should be prosecuted 100 percent

But let's also remember the number of people on the streets wih multiple rap sheets who are on the streets that shouldn't be and have zero respect for the cops trying to enforce law

I don't know if I am expressing what I mean right. And I can't imagine what it was like growing up where some grew up and the struggles they had.

But I also can't imagine being the spouse etc of a cop in some
Areas and wondering every single second if they were coming

That quote is very disconcerting.

So, because the police protect us, we should just shut up and not question anything they do?

They should absolutely be questioned and should not be above the law. I personally know of an officer who has had multiple DV reports made against him and whose precinct has had them swept under the rug and off his record. How is that right?

There's the issue - as an example.

While everyone needs to respect law and we should teach our kids to do so, cops and supporters need to stop the mentality of "question me? Then go **** yourself and now you're our enemy, too."

It's gonna be a never ending cycle until BOTH sides have an open and honest discussion on matters.

Here's a thought why don't you guys go volunteer in an inner city? A soup kitchen? A school? For the Police Department? Make the change you want to see. My guess is there will be a million reasons why you can't or won't or how it's not my job blah blah blah.

Did it, for many, many years. Lots of people volunteer in those communities and teach in those schools. Have you? If you have done what you're telling others to do you'll see that it's way more complicated than showing up to volunteer a few times a week. It would be more helpful to admit that no one has the answers and bad cops don't help.

Posted by AllyMally

Heck I doubt the officers don't even know exactly wtf happened.

And you don't find this problematic?

To answer the last question no I don't find it problomatic at all. There were 6 officers. I doubt they all know the same thing. That's not a problem that's life. This also rolls into the 1st question. I do volunteer for both our soup kitchen, at risk youth, boys and girls club, for the fd and police department AND I work in an inner city. I have seen sh*t that would blow your mind. I have been shot at, attacked, chased, hugged, talked to nicely, screamed at, I have been there. How WE, as public service agents, need to deal with the shitstorm that is our society is our choice. If that means a quote helps you get through ANOTHER night of being the enemy then so be it. It's sooooooo easy to sit here and say if we reform this and if we do that blah. THAT isn't the issue. It's just not. Yes lots of people want off assistance and want a better life. However JUST as many are milking it. They straight up ARE. Call an ambulance because I don't have cash for a cab, but I have government assistance that will pay. THAT is our society. To be backed into a cornor while TRYING to save a shooting victum and being told my white asss needs to move faster because I "owe" him that. What do I owe him? Oh yea he's black and I owe him for the sins of my ancestors. Are you fing kidding me?! You don't see me requesting people "owe" me in life even though MY ancestors were killed in concentration camps. So yes I am practicing what I preach.

As for bad cops don't help, yup I agree they don't. Also assholes throwing bricks and rocks and destroying cities doesn't help either. Why is it we have to look past the violence and statistics to the "heart" of the problem but a few cops are bad and now we are SCREAMING about the police. What a double standard.

Like Nicholson said in A Few Good Men, "I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of protection I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it."

so wait cause the cops protect us we should never question them and everything they do is 100% right?

So that cop in SC who shot that running (if you want to call that running) suspect in the back numerous times, then what seem to plant evidence on him should have never be questioned and we should have all just accepted he did was ok???!!!

the ignorance, racism, and the way people think in general in this thread, on FB, and in our society its disturbing and sad.

just because I think some cops are bad and shouldn't be cops doesn't mean I hate all cops. I feel horrible for PO Moore he didn't deserve that at all.

Also I am sick of hearing who gets coverage and why. IMO things get covered when people make a big enough deal about it and the media wants to cover it. seems like anything that get lots of attention is because people are forcing it out there in the media.
EXACTLY ON POINT!

I was talking to my boyfriend, a police lieutenant, who served our beautiful country as a marine, active duty for six years... And he gets a little worked up about how people bash police *sometimes* but, for the most part, he's so calm about it.

Watching TV about Baltimore and even Ferguson before it gets me up to a MILLION. And then to see something like PO Moore's death and the massacres of officers like the two NYPD in late December not getting nearly as much coverage bothers me so much. Tonight I finally said to him, how do you not get MORE upset?!

He has such a way about him Chat Icon he turns to me, looks up from his book, sighs, and goes:

Like Nicholson said in A Few Good Men, "I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of protection I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it."

. entitlement_ who do they think they are ?they are entitled to do what they want to do ? this statement is arrogant and cocky!!
