I give my kids ice-cream, but I check ingredients to see what's in it to be sure it's really ice cream and not just a frozen dessert product laced with chemicals before buying it. I know too many people with kids, and also young people, that have had cancer. My doctors have told me that while no one knows for certain what causes cancer, the general feeling in the field is that it is not one single thing, that several things may need to come together to trigger its growing. They are concerned that chemicals put in processed foods and in products we use on our bodies, and the antibiotics and hormones in non-organic meats, dairy and eggs might be contributing factors. Because of that, I have been told to avoid them. If that is good practice for me, it has to be good for my family.
Do you ever make your own ice cream? I like to , b/c then I know exactly what is in it(if you are making a type that contains, eggs, you can use organic if you want to), but I also know exactly how much fat is in it.
I also have had cancer & have been told by doctors that there isn't just 1 cause. However, maybe it was the type that I had, but I've asked if there is anything I should avoid/change & they said no. Which is odd, b/c for all they knew I could be eating only McDonalds & Oreos & spending my evenings in tanning beds.
I do try to make better choices (with food & products) but it is so hard to avoid everything without making yourself crazy & stress isn't good for your health either.

As the Mom of a kid who has serious feeding delays, I was very happy that my son stole my free chocolate cone last night and ate half of it (never liked it before).. I think I eat Carvel 3 times a year. It is too expensive!
I like to live a little as I know life is short!

And that's my thing too. You can eat completey healthy and clean. Never drink, never smoke and die 40 or younger of something. Or get hit by a car. Or 1000 other ways to die.
I actually know someone who's mom was a clean, organic eater. Health nut. Exercised daily, never drank, never smoked, never ate junk. She died of stomach cancer.
So you just never know.
Of course you want to take steps to prevent things where you can. But at the end of the day, it's not really in your hands.

True that. Sometimes I think the gods just get bored and throw darts randomly and some of us get hit, because I was very clean living and no one in my family on any side has had cancer.
OTOH, when doctors tell me to avoid deodorant containing aluminum, as they are pretty certain aluminum used so close to the breast may be a cause of breast cancer, and I have just finished going through extensive treatment for BC, then you can bet I will avoid it :)
Problem is, deodorants without it don't work as well:( and some days I can be smelled a mile away.
Maybe a carvel cone would work instead?
