question re: an invite I received...
just received an invite in the mail for a bday party of one of DD's classmates and it was addressed to The XX Family so am I correct to say that my other DD is also invited? Want to make sure before I RSVP..Thanks.

I would think so. if it was just your DD I would think they would just write her name.

I'd assume it's for your child + parents. Does her classmate know you have other children? I'd ask to be sure you can bring 2 children, especially if it's somewhere they will be paying per person.

I would not bring your other child without asking the host. There may not be a per person cost but the host I am sure would want to make sure that there is enough food for everyone coming. Also, there may be an issue with space and they may be near the max. I think your three choices are to: (1) RSVP no; (2) explain the situation to the host and ask if your other child can come; or (3) get a babysitter for your other child.
I have been invited to other classmate's bday parties and I have never brought my other DD or even thought to do so because it was only addressed to my daughter but this one got me thinking since it was addressed to the family. I have no problem whatsoever leaving her with DH, as I have done in the past.
But I agree, I will def ask! Thanks!

I would assume yes because when I address an invite to "The XXXX Family" it's because ALL are invited. If I was inviting just a specific person I would call it out on the envelope when I address it, "Jonathan Smith" or "Sally and Kate Smith".
You could double check to be sure but my guess is you're all invited.

I addressed dd's invites that way with the intent to include everyone. Whether or not you ask, I would just be sure to specify who plans to come when you rsvp so they have an accurate count. I planned for the entire families I invited bc almost no one gave me specifics so I wanted to be prepared food and favor wise.
