Another paying the babysitter Q...
We've always used family up to this point, so I'm clueless about baby-sitters, but we have a family party coming up that starts at 7pm and I'd really rather not take my 21-month-old. We're hiring our neighbor, she's a teenager from two doors down, and has been asking to be my babysitter since I was prego! I was thinking of $12. an hour. Is that fair for one toddler? And do you tip on top of it?

A 20 year old charges me $10/hour for my 3 month old son. I think $12 might be too high. I don't "tip" per se, but I round up. If she is here 2.5 hours, I will give her $30 instead of $25. The extra $5 means more to her than it does to me. I want her to like sitting for us, etc.
