How did you give birth ?

I had 2 c-sections

I was induced with my dd due to a blood clotting disorder. never progressed past a fingertip dialated even with pitocin and my dd was in some distress so we did a c-section - she was born at 39w at 9.8lbs

with DS, I scheduled a c-section and he was born at 39.3 weeks and weighed 9.10 lbs

Re: How did you give birth ?

DD#1 Vaginal with epi - 9 total hours of labor

DD#2 Vaginal with epi - 4 total hours of labor

DD#3 Vaginal with epi - 6 total hours of labor

My 3rd I didn't even have to push...the epi was turned so high that I didn't feel anything and she was crowning by the time I noticed anything!

I had an induced labor due to blood clotting issues. Thankfully, I was still able to have a vaginal delivery with epidural.

How did you give birth ?

c-section after being induced overnight and then 12 hours of "real" labor (since I didn't feel my overnight contractions.) I had an epi too. I stalled at 5cm and so had the c-section for failure to progress. My recovery was really good and only took a painkiller bc the nurses made me. I took half at a time bc I have weird reactions to painkillers. By the time I came home I wasn't taking anything for pain at all. My DS was in NICU so I was able to walk to see him during the day.

I replied to the poll before reading the post so I guess I don't really count.

I had an emergecny c-section due to a problem with a blood disorder that I have.

But I am really surprised to see that it's almost 50/50!!

I delivered both my boys vaginally with no drugs. My first I was in labor over 8 hours and my second came so fast I almost didn't make it to the hospital!

As I mentioned earlier, it is is really interesting that c section numbers on here are similar to the rates you see in local hospitals.

Vag drug free.

I waited as long as I could to go to the hospital, which would be my suggestion if you want to do that route. I only went in when I did because I was bleeding and it made me nervous, but I was fully dilated when I got to the hospital.

Arrived at 410, started pushing at 430, she was born at 530. Try didn't even have time to put an iv in me

This for me too, except I didn't wait that long to go to the hospital. I only went into labor around 730am, left for the hospital around 845-9am, arrived at 940, DD was born at 1015am. I was still dressed, with no IV and she was only born that long after I arrived because they didn't believe me when I said I was about to give birth. It was only when I said, "I'm have to push right now" that they believed me.

Induced with Cervadil, gave birth vaginally without an epi

Ditto.

Water broke on its own but no contractions hence the cervadil. Contractions were STRONG and I wanted an epi but I went from 2cm to 10 cm VERY quickly.

Re: How did you give birth ?

Planned c-section. Was planning unmedicated birth but DS was breech and stayed that way until the end. i'll try for a VBAC next time but I wouldn't be upset with a c-section. I also watched the business of being born. It is a few years old now, and I found most hospitals now are trying to reduce their c-section rates, in NY at least. I delivered at LIJ-Katz and had a good experience.

#1 planned water birth with midwife in hospital ended up induced with pitocin (don't know if cervidil was around 11 years ago), vaginal, no pain meds

#2 planned home birth with midwife who was featured in BOB and we were asked to be filmed for BOB but I declined.

Re: How did you give birth ?

I picked vag with no drugs.. Not entirely true. I was induced by my midwife because I had pre-e. The Pitocin was only used for a tiny bit because it didn't work. Beyond that they used alternate means of induction (including balloon catheters and cytotec) and I had no pain meds.

How did you give birth ?

My first daughter was born vaginally, with an epidural. The epidural wore off very quickly and even with two boosters I felt A LOT. It was a very traumatic birth experience. My DD got stuck and my OB had to break her collarbone to get her out quickly.

My second daughter was born via c-section because of the events of my first birth.

Re: How did you give birth ?

My water broke at home and I had an epi (not thT it relly worked). I was lucky as my doctor has low section rates as per the nurses in my taking home baby class. This is because I was petrified of having a section

Re: How did you give birth ?

Unplanned c-section - my water broke on my due date, and after hours of pitocin, I failed to progress (baby still hadn't descended, and I was not dilating). So c-section it was. My doctors believe I have an"inhospitable pelvis" and recommended c-sections with any subsequent children.

My ob was the one that led me through the labor and decision-making process, so I think their "history" is more important than the hospital's.

Re: How did you give birth ?

C-section after a 68 hour attempt at a vaginal birth with two failed inductions.

Water broke at home Tuesday night, induced Wednesday night for failing to progress, induced again early Thursday morning, pushed for over 6 hours, had a manual version to flip him from face up, pushed for another hour, and then they called for the C section.

I did not like the C section at all, but the important thing was that DS arrived safely.
