What do you give your nursery schooler for lunch?

DS starts nursery school and I can only think of 2 things...peanut butter and jelly and ham/swiss. Please give me ideas.

Snack and drink ideas too! I am such a newbie!!!

What do you give your nursery schooler for lunch?

Every daycare day my 3 yr olds lunchbox contains the following:

a main choice- turkey/cheese rollups, PB & J, pasta salad, chicken/brown rice/peas in a thermos, hard boiled eggs, bagel w/ cream cheese, pizza, homemade soup in a thermos, leftover chinese food, mac & cheese

a veggie- cucumbers, celery, baby carrots, raw broccoli, raw cauliflower, cherry tomatoes. Sometimes I will send hummus or ranch dressing for dipping

a fruit- apple slices, banana, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, mango, honeydew, cantaloupe

dairy- cheese stick, organic yogurt tube, greek yogurt

snack- annie's organic fruit snacks, applesauce pouch, raisins, pita chips, pretzels, whole wheat ritz crackers, graham crackers, earth's best cookies, goldfish

drink is always water in his water bottle and a horizon milk box

Just wanted to say be careful about pb&j since many nursery schools now are nut-free.

Our school was peanut free so no p&j sandwiches here or nutella. He also went from 8-245, so I had to send a morning snack as well.

I was very limited on what I could make since DS doesn't do luncheon meat at all.

My go to lunches for the school year for him were:

- Cream cheese on ww bread or a bagel. I used cookie cutters to make different shapes so he would be more enticed to eat them. That really helped!

- sliced cheese on ww bread - again I used the cookie cutters

- In a hot thermos I sent spaghetti with butter and cheese

- Hummus cup with multi grain tostitos

Morning Snack ideas (breakfast)

-yogurt drink - plus fruit (mostly berries since apples turn brown once you cut them and DS won't eat them like that)

and than either one of the items below

- dry cereal
- Nutri grain bar
- mini muffins
- waffle

Lunch snack ideas:

- Fruit plus one of the items listed below
- string cheese
- Rice cakes
- Pretzels
- granola bar
- wheat thin crackers
- Pirates booty
- pudding cup
- applesauce cup

Once a week I gave him a special treat like fruit snacks or a piece of chocolate or some oreoes.

Drinks was a small juice box...I have a hard time getting DS to drink water. He would rather not drink anything than have to drink water...ughhh

DD is there from 9 to 6 so they snack 2x.
Snacks:
Cucumbers
Strawberry /Blueberries/seasonal fruit
Avocado
Green beans or wax bean
yogurt
Cheese
Gold fish
Gram crackers
Cheerios
Pickles
Kix

Lunch:
Deli meat no bread
Soup
Rice and eggs
Rice and vegis
Or anything left over

Water or chocolate milk box if she asks. She's mostly a water drinker.

Sunbutter is safe! We do sunbutter and jelly on graham crackers or whole wheat
Rolled applegate cold cuts
hummus and pita chips
yogurt

DS's school was also peanut free, so PB&J was out for us. He used to take those liunchable pizza things, where he makes the pizza himself. He loved them! I used to just pull out the candy that's included in that and gave him fruit instead.
