Well I am not sure if it is considered "extended" but DD is 8 months and we are still nursing 2x a day.
Thing is, the morning session is so short- like shes not interested. Maybe 5 min a side- if that. The bedtime session is a bit longer but not by much. When I pump (rarely) it's really not all that much- not even enough for a bottle! Supply was never an issue for me, in fact I had an oversupply at one stage.
I have been toying with the idea of stopping but I don't think I am ready yet- I am so close to a year and really want to make it!
Any insight? Thanks!

It all sounds totally normal. If you don't pump regularly, you're not oging to respond well. Regardless, the pump isnt a good indicator of your supply.
As for her not nursing as long, its the age- she;s more distracted. Couple this with the fact that your milk has become more "concentrated" (i cant think of the right word) so she actually doesnt need to nurse as long as she used to.

are you supplementing? She might have become used to the fast flow of the bottle and doesn't want to put in the effort to nurse.

At just over 9 months my DS still nurses 5-6 times a day. Are you supplementing? If so, I hate to say it but it sounds like your supply may be slowing down. I will say that some of our nursing sessions are quick, but at least 2-3 of them per day are 10+ minutes.

I was going to ask the same about supplementing.
At that age, around 75% of their diet should still be from breast milk or formula. My DS nurses before each meal and before bed, as well as randomly in between. He's 11 months.

What the others say is totally true. If you are only nursing in the morning and night and not pumping regularly your supply is going to go way down. I am assuming you giving frozen milk during the day or formula?
You might want to start thinking about trying some things to increase your supply or you will likely not make it another 4 months. My supply started to fall around 10 months when I started pushing finger foods and at 11 months even with drinking 80 oz of water a day it's still really falling. I'm trying to get 5-6 nursing sessions in a day, but 2-3 are more comfort nursing than hunger nursing. I am hoping to get another month in but I'm not sure Ill make it.

It sounds like you have a really low supply. If you're only nursing twice a day and not pumping, your going to lose your supply. Are you giving formula the rest of the day? If you really want to continue to nurse I would increase the number of nursing sessions and pump if you want to give a bottle. It's a personal choice of when you want to stop nursing, but it sounds like you've already been supplementing with formula so making it to a year is not necessary (if you were trying not to supplement).

Thanks all for your replies. Actually I'm going by the premise that any bm is good for them. She was EBF for close to 6 months and then we dropped a session and started supplementing since I also have 3 yo and we needed to do things during the day and giving a bottle helped me out a lot with that. If we are blessed with a 3rd baby down the road I think I'll more comfortable with nursing in public but this is what worked for us.
I think she's getting enough, she's off the charts for weight and height. She looks to nurse when she wakes up she just doesn't do it for very long... I think it's more of a distraction thing but she does seem satisfied.
I nursed dd1 for 8 months and for the last month it was only 1x a day. I think I'm going to keep up the 2 sessions until I go back to work and then maybe drop the morning session. Id like to hold on to the nighttime one until she's one.

Even if she isn't getting a lot of milk, she might just enjoy the comfort of your breast in the morning and at night. If you're not ready to give it up, keep doing it. If nothing else it's soothing and comforting.
