How long did you BF/pump before switching to formula?
I have been pumping for about 5 weeks now and eventually want to stop and switch to formula, about how long did everyone BF/pump before making the switch? Did you just switch cold turkey or was there a transition?

How long did you BF/pump before switching to formula?
From my understanding, it is better to wean than to stop cold turkey. Start dropping a pump every few days, otherwise I think you can get mastitis.
I've been pumping for just over 18 weeks now. I'm down to 3-4 pumps per day but I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
ETA: We've been supplementing w/ formula from day one due to my low supply.

How long did you BF/pump before switching to formula?
I EBF for the first month. Then I started pumping and giving bm in bottles. I slowly transitioned to formula and by 3 months I stopped pumping and dd was only on formula.

I give a mix of formula and bm bottles, dd does fine with one of each. I dont even need to mix it. For my dd#1 @ 8 mo she only got formula bottles but nursed morning and bedtime when she wanted

How long did you BF/pump before switching to formula?
I exclusively pumped for about 3 months each time. I was able to build up a nice freezer stash too so that made it last a little longer. Definitely don't stop cold turkey! That will be very painful for you. Drop 1 pumping or feeding session and then a few days later drop another one until you are fully done. Also you can lessen the time of the sessions too.

I pumped/bf for 6m. I weaned and dropped 1 pump every week. We had enough frozen to get him to about 7 1/2 months on BM and then just switched over to formula.

I introduced formula gradually at 5 1/2 months, an oz or two at a time into bm. I was still bf'ing and pumping until DD was just shy of 8 mos and then switched her over completely to formula.

9.5 months. Just pumped less & less that simple. Drying up completely was the hard part.

I pumped for DS until he was 10.5 months old. Then I used up most of my frozen milk by 11 months (I still had a lot more left but it didn't freeze well so I'm tossing it). Now for the past week, he's had formula only. I have a few containers of formula left, and when I use them all up, probably sometime in Aug or Sept, I'll start giving him whole milk instead.

sadly i wasnt enough for ds, and had to supplement in order to be able to return to work. He pushed me away at 7 months, and at 9 months i pushed the pump away. He was on full formula from 9 months or so until 11.5 months when we switched to water and milk..

With dd1 I pumped for 9 months (supplemented around 5 months) and with dd2 bc of just not having as much time with a toddler running around and my supply dipping bc of getting sick, I pumped for just over 2 months.
