Help! Biting
DS turned 2 at the end of March and is coping with the fact that he is no longer an only child, and acting out a lot.
He has taken to biting when he's upset (which is anytime I say "no"). He really hurts!!! He actually broke skin the other day.
Any advice on how to handle it? Nothing is working.
Thanks!

Help! Biting
So, my son is 19 months and we are experiencing this too. I read, not sure if this will work for you but it said to tell them "it hurts," make a sad face and say "now hug mommy." The other thing I read was not to bite them but show them how the teeth feel on their skin. I am not quite sure how that is supposed to make a difference. Now, who knows if it will work but maybe worth a shot. My son bites weird times, sometimes for no good reason and not hard at all. So weird ! I bit when I was little too and the only cure was for my mom to bite me. I know the horror. I wouldn't do that now but apparently it worked for my mom ! lol.

Re: Help! Biting
My 20 mo old bites but more when she gets excited. she bites her sister badly. Her EI teacher said to say "NO" firmly (not no biting b/c the last thing they hear is bite). Then don't give her any attn. and put her in time out. She doesn't quite get it yet, but we are trying to keep with it in hopes it clicks.

Help! Biting
Thanks. It is so hard not to yell when he does it - especially when bleeding LOL.
I will try both those suggestions, good luck to both of you lol

Re: Help! Biting
Grace did it twice and twice only. I removed her from whatever she was doing, sat her on the floor (away from me, toys) and told her NO! WE do NOT bite! Ouch! In a stern voice (she actually cried the first time) and nothing since.
She actually pinched me yesterday and I (gently) pinched her back and said "see, OUCH no pinching! Pinching hurts" and I could see she got it. She buried her head in my chest and said "I love you"
