8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
Just curious what other 8-9 month olds are eating. Looking for some more ideas! DS has been identified as likely having some allergies so we are a bit limited in what he can eat. He does seem okay with wheat, so I'm hoping to try pastina soon. Right now his daily meals look like this:
Breakfast: rice cereal and fruit puree or yogurt and fruit puree. Practicing eating solids by feeding himself puffs and some banana.
Lunch: fruit and veggies puree, or yogurt with fruit and veggie puree. Practice solids with puffs and some banana or carrot.
Dinner: chicken puree with some veggie puree. Also practices his solids with puffs and some soft veggies.

8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
Same ideas as above and my DS just turned 9 mo's. I add in cheese, small fruits, and vegs with each meal to practice.

Our meals are pretty much the same as yours. Once he turns 9 months I'll start adding in steamed veggies and some cut up fruit for him to practice with.

Does LO have the pincer grasp yet? If so you can start giving small table food to them. Maybe scrambled eggs?
What you explained is our routine too. Maybe some soft pretzel or pizza crust is thrown in there as a biter food.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
He eats little pieces of cheese which is cool.
But I think my nine month old -- he will be ten months July 9th is abnormal. He eats more than anyone I've ever seen!! I think he eats more than me and DH combined!!
7am - 8 oz formula plus oatmeal cereal and a stage two jar of fruit.
10am - 2 stage two jars of fruit
1pm - 8 oz bottle of formula plus 2 stage 2 jars of veggies
4pm - 2 stage 2 jars of veggies or meat
7pm - 8 oz. bottle of formula with oatmeal cereal.
Yes, SEVEN jars a day. Is this normal?! He's not overweight - he's in the 90th percentile for weight and that's only because he continues to be WAY OFF the chart in length.
The doctor said just keep giving him as much as he wants.
I use coupons to buy the food - lots and lots of coupons
The last time I was at BRU I was filling my cart with his favorite varieties of Earth's Best and a lady was like, awww do you have twins at home??
NO, just one HUGE and very HUNGRY boy.

Everything we give him, yes... marinara sauce, pastina, soup, greek yogurt, cheese, puffs, mum mums, etc.
I'm afraid a little ONLY because he just recently cut two little tiny teeth but before that nothing -- and that's all he has. So, I get nervous but man does he eat.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
Sorry to hijack the post... I feel like I'm under feeding my LO.
For those feeding meats/poultry... what kind? Do you do jarred meats, purees, or diced?
Right now I'm only feeding LO 2 jars a day and cereal 2x a day (plus bottles).
I hope I haven't been under feeding him.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
We do pureed meat. Overall he eats 1/4 cup cereal, 1/4 cup yogurt, and 2-3 jars of fruit/veggies a day. I don't think you're under feeding at all. At this age it is just to learn and experiment. Pretty much all their nutrition comes from formula or BM still.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
We do the meats that come in the jars.
DS usually has 4 tablespoons of cereal in the morning. He usually has a stage 3 fruit mixed with 2-3 tablespoons of oatmeal for lunch. Dinner is usually a stage 2 veggie and a stage 2 meat. (We tried the stage 3 meats, but he hated the chunks)
As long as they are gaining weight, I wouldn't worry about underfeeding. I've learned that kids this age eat vastly different amounts. DS1 ate much more than DS2 is now, but they both are perfectly healthy.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
If your LO is happy and gaining well do not worry about how much they are eating. My DD is BF and only recently it was discovered that she only takes about 5oz of milk when she nurses. In addition on a GOOD day I could get her to eat 1oz of cereal and maybe 1-2oz of puréed food a meal. Typically, it was half that between 8-9 months. To my surprise, She stayed right on track in the 25% for weight through that stage. DD is now 10 months and she only recently started appreciating real solid foods and again usually doesn't ingest all that much.

Re: 8-9 month olds - what are their meals like?
Lol...my 9th month old eats all table food. He refuses baby food will throw a fit in his high chair. I can get him to eat fruit puree with his oatmeal because its the oatmeal with the fruit pieces. He basically eats anything we are eating cut very tiny. The only thing I don't give him is seafood, eggs, and pb.
