2 1/2 year old biting - Need positive support

We just made a huge move a few months ago, OOS and away from his Grandma and Grandpa. They were a huge part of his life. He asks about them everyday. It kills me. I know he's going through adjusting, however he's biting a lot recently. Today at my gym, I left him in the day care area. I was called to come in to get him. He had bit a boy on his arm because the boy took the toy he was playing with.
My son speaks very well. He can say 7-10 word sentences sometimes. While I do understand he may be acting out because of the huge move, I am worried. I was very upset today that he did this. Not once but twice! The second time, I was told he initiated it because he wanted a toy. The second boy he bit on his finger and was crying. His mom was also called. She was very understanding and told me that they go through phases. I get that but, I don't want him to hurt anyone! My husband and I had a talk with him today and calmly told him he is not to bite anyone and that we don't hurt people. He said okay and seems to be understanding. I just hope it really is sinking in. I am so upset. I cried today while he napped. Chat Icon For those who have gone through this, what has worked for you?
Oh, and next time I am not going to work out I am going to sit there and observe him to see how he behaves.

DD went through a phase when she would bite it seem to happen when her daycare teacher left and a new one came in. she was turning 3. I told her we don't bite and if she does she will get tv taken away etc and she understood that so every time she did bite or misbehave she got it taken away and we talked to her about how she cant bite and has to behave she eventually stop doing it all together.

My DD went thru this also around 2, 2 1/2. I was at first just either yelling at her or trying to talk to her but it wasn't working. Finally my sil (who is a special ed teacher) recommended that I put her right in time out every.single.time... and right away. I admit, I had a habit of saying "next time you will be in trouble". I realized I was giving her too many chances and not punishing the act right away. We had to have a 0 tolerence on biting. I mean, she was mostly doing it to her older sister so most of the time we were right there when she did it so we were able to right away pick her up and put her in time out. THis has helped so much! after just a few times of just doing the time out right away - she finally got that her biting was causes a negative reaction. Good luck!
