the result of NOT wearing sunscreen are far worse than the 'chemicals' in the sunscreen .......
So I lather them up - I usually use Coppertone or Neutrogena.
I kind of agree.
I've always used Coppertone Water Babies Pure and Simple.

We use California Baby. I'm not 100% organic but I try to do it as much as possible. Certain things make me uncomfortable and what I've read about many sunscreens scares me.
I am curious as to why so many of you use Badger as opposed to California Baby? I've never tried it because I've never seen it in a store. If I buy online in the future I might consider it.

I have used organic/natural sunscreen for them since they first started using sunscreen. My son also has very sensitive skin and that i all he can really tolerate. I've used Earth's Best, badger, Jason etc. They are a PITA to put on because a lot of them have zinc and are really thick but whatever. They have never had a sunburn and I'm not slathering them in chemicals. The skin is the bodies' largest organ so I am pretty careful about what I use on them

Never even noticed that but all our Coppertone Water Babies do say "pure and simple"
Got a bunch of them cheap at Christmas Tree Shops. I keep them all over. One in the beach bag (I have a small bag in the beach bag just for the sunscreen, baby powder and bug spray), one in the closet by the garage door to lather up before going outside, mini one in the diaper bag, and one in the drawers in our outside bar by the pool.
I just read that keeping sunscreen outside can limit its effectiveness, FYI:) I didnt know that until I read it and had some in my car

This is how I feel. I love the Neutrogena wet skin brand. My DD is incredibly fair and she has never been burned with this on.

I only use Badger, for me and the kids. Yes, the effects of sun damage are bad. But what are the effects of the chemicals? Do they even know? I'm willing to bet they are as bad, and probably even worse.
The chemicals create tons of free radicals that are being shown to be worse than the burn itself. We use rash guards, sun hats and RAW elements sunscreen.

When my triplets were babies I used babyganics, thinking I was being all virtuous. Turns out the Environmental watch group rated them on the same level as plain old copper tone water babies, which was cheaper and available in the drug store, so we switched.
Now that they are 2 and I have three wriggly toddlers, we just use the kids spray from target or coppertone kids spray. I cringe thinking about it, but I just cannot wrestle three 2 year olds to the ground every time we leave the house. Plus the spray comes on so easily and evenly. I don't miss any spots like I would with the zinc oxide ones. Melanoma runs in my immediate family so I have to take that seriously. A single blistering sunburn as a child more than doubles your chances of developing melanoma.I am actually enjoying this summer so much more than last summer because applying sunblock is so much less stressful :)

Actually, that is because babies that age to not sweat like we do and the sunblock can cause over heating by blocking the heat in, nothing to do with the chemicals. 
I researched it last year cause DS was under 6 months all summer!
Ah, when I looked into it I saw both the chemicals and the perspiration issue as reasons for not using it on the wee ones!

We only use badger too. I go by ewg website for all of dd's products. Shampoo, soap, diaper cream, wipes, and lotion. I've started using it for myself too and it's really annoying how some organic/natural products I've used for years don't rate that great. So I am in the process of changing over. Yes you're all fine now. But what about decades into the future? When I was a pre-teen/teen I used to slather myself with coppertone kids. Now I have hashimotos disease. Absolutely no one in my family has it, it was probably caused by environmental influences specifically immune system disrupters which coppertone kids as well as a whole list of products I used for the majority of my life contains. Chemicals are bad for you, it's a fact not an opinion and because of this I choose to try and use the most "safe" products I can find for me and my family.
I have autoimmune disease as well with no family history  I thought I was fine too, but my past unhealthy ways caught up to me.
Right now we use one by alba botanical.

I use the same. It's everywhere and has good ratings. I don't see an up-side to buying the regular kind. This is the same price and just as effective, but I know that it's less harsh.

I don't get the whole idea about using products with unnecessary chemicals and being ok with it because you're "fine". That's like someone saying it's ok to smoke because I feel fine now. And no, not every smoker will get cancer, but it's more than likely that they will suffer some negative consequence from smoking.
OP: I'm using Honest Company at the moment, but now I'm thinking about using one of those listed in the chart.

A lot of people use Badger or California Baby because it rate a 1 on the EWG website (environmental working group). Honest company rates a 0 which is the best.
Both Badger and California Baby rate the same, both good, I find Badger to be the least tacky/sticky. I used the honest company all last summer and most recently this year in FL. I honestly like Badger better just because it absorbs in and isn't sticky to the touch. I assume that's why so many use it. CA baby is good too though.

We have used Aubrey, Badger, Dolphin Organics and EltaMD. I bought Honest spray for my DH (he hates using lotion his hairy arms so spray it is for him) but haven't got a verdict from him on it yet.
I prefer the EltaMD overall. The formulation we use is a 1 on EWG. It's easy to apply and that's huge with my kids. Also, my DS has sensitive skin and doesn't have a reaction to this one.
I have used Coppertone Waterbabies Pure and Simple. I would recommend it if you need something quick and none of the top rated options are readily available. Unfortunately, it's one that reacts with my DS but it's fine for me and the other kids.
With any sunscreen, apply before sun exposure. Give it time to dry. We've learned that the hard way after applying last minute on the soccer field.
There are days I don't apply just because I do believe a little sun exposure is good for them. Moderation.
I jumped on the no chemical sunscreen bandwagon a couple years ago, after my dear relative was diagnosed with melanoma. She was fair and never fake baked but said it was due to sun damage as a child. Sadly, she passed away less than 2 years later after it spread to her lungs and brain. She was 32. I want to provide the best protection I can for my kids. There's a wealth of information out there now and I'm not blindly picking a sunscreen off a shelf and trusting that company actually cares for my kids more than their profits.
