Birthday pictures - age 2 and over
Does anyone do cake smashes for ages other than 1? Or just professional photos? Or take your own?

I never have done professional photos other than a family shoot when my DS was 4.5 months

my SIL does professional pictures for everything. Holidays, Birthdays etc. Its a personal preference. DD just turned 2 and we wound up putting her into the mix of DD#2 newborn pictures.

It's whatever you want. No right or wrong way. If it's something you want to do on your own or professionally and if you want to spend or save the money that's up to you.

I didn't do a cake smash at all...I personally don't like them. However, I did studio pics at Picture People at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, and 2 years, mostly using Groupons. I don't plan on taking any more professional pics until 3 years, and I told DH that if DD is as active then as she is now, I'd rather work with a private photographer who is going to take the time to build a rapport with her than the amateurs at Picture People (We got a few cute photos, but they always miss so many good moments).
