My almost 3 year old DS is in a wedding this summer. They are having a party bus take them from the church to the reception hall so they can take pics. There is a 3 hour gap between the end of the church and the reception.

They told me that I could go with them in the limo bus as there will be plenty of room. What have you done? Do you put the car seat in the limo/party bus? Are there even seat belts on these buses? Do you just take your own car and follow?

Took our own car and followed. Then after they did some pics....took DC to eat and try to nap/rest.

I haven't, but I would absolutely take my own car and follow. They don't even have seatbelts, do they?

That's what I figured. I didn't really think about his obligations when I said okay and this is just going to be a royal PITA. It's not local, we will only have one car, DH is going to b!tch and moan the whole time that he has to shlep around for pics, can't go swimming at the hotel (like a 5 year old), has to wear a suit all day, has no time to change, wah wah wah...I already have a headache just thinking about his complaining. Meanwhile, I'll be the one chasing DS around in HEELS in summer heat through a freakin park. Whatever, it's all for a good cause..the happy couple. Sorry...my simple post with a question just turned into a total b!tch session. Chat Icon

Has anyone had your toddler in a wedding party?

DS was in SIL's wedding last summer and so were DH & I. My parents were also invited to the wedding so they drove him to the church and then to the reception and if we needed him for pictures they would have done that too. No way was I putting him in a Limo or party bus.

I am laid back about 99% of things but not that.

Dd was older, but stayed with me and I drove her to pics and to the church. She didn't miss the limo at all

For the oot wedding, same thing. Even after pics at hotel, disney accommodated us wit a limo to the wedding pavilion. Super short ride, but girls LOVED being in it with just me. We all rode the bus to the resort for the reception.

my sister helped us at the church then drove dd to the hall. That was the best way b/c we didn't want a car there, dh and I were both in the wedding party

forgot, she came in the limo with me to the church which was less than a mile from sil's house. It was literally a 5 minute ride. I didn't like the idea but I kept her close to me, crossed my fingers and prayed we got there safe, which we did.

For my wedding I would not allow the ring bearer or flower girl in the party bus unless the parents (who were in the wedding) were able to get car seats. We spoke about it way in advance and my MIL drove our niece to the wedding and my friends mother drove her son to the wedding.

I took my own car and followed. The party buses aren't capable (that I know of) of harnessing car seats.

DS was in my BFF's wedding last summer, he was 2. He did not come in the limo, but I did since I was MOH. DH drove him and met us there. If that hadn't been an option, I would have taken DS myself and skipped the limo.

Re: Has anyone had your toddler in a wedding party?

When my daughter got married last summer, my grandson who was 16 months was the ring bearer. Both his parents were in the wedding party and in the limo, as were we. We did not have a party bus but a limo, and we took his car seat and strapped it in the limo. It worked out fine.

Re: Has anyone had your toddler in a wedding party?

My girls rode in car seats in the limo for my cousin's wedding. We have also followed the limo in our own car in other weddings.

Re: Has anyone had your toddler in a wedding party?

For my wedding I had 2 flower girls age 2 and 5. 5 year old ride in the limo which had seatbelts and they installed a carseat. The 2 year old rode with her parents.

My girls are fg this summer and will be riding in a car with my parents. Dh and I will be in the limo with the rest of the bridal party. I don't know if the limos have seatbelts but I don't want to be bothered installing car seats the day of my brothers wedding. It's just easier to have them ride in their own seats in our car.

Re: Has anyone had your toddler in a wedding party?

We took a party bus out to the vineyards over Mother's Day and we put the car seats in the limo. It was a tremendous pain in the butt and took my dh a very long time to get it in and out. I wasn't at all thrilled about it and wouldn't recommend it. If you are considering it, I would recommend calling the rental company to see if it is possible or recommended. I think you are better off taking your own car.

Side note, my dd is 3 and will be a flower girl for my cousin this fall and I am totally dreading it. It's also oot, and just feels like its going to be tremendous work. She will be super cute though. My point is, I totally feel your pain. I was not thrilled but didn't want to say no. I thought the wedding was going to be a fun night away but now we are bringing my three year old and baby and it will be stressful getting them through a long day.
