Newborns and Sleep

My DS is 7 weeks and we put him to bed when we go to bed at about 10. He usually feeds often in the evenings.

We put him down around 8-9 and he is 10weeks old
He usually gives us 4 hours then every 3

For those who keep them up until 10-11 what do you do to keep them up?
And when was there prior nap?

Newborns and Sleep

With all our kids, we've just followed their cues. My first would go to bed between 11 and 12, my second was more like 10, and now my daughter 6 weeks old) goes down around 9ish.

My son rarely naps after 7. He usually nurses around 7 and then again between 9-9:30. If he's going to clusterfeed, it happens between 6:30 and 9:30.

DD went to sleep around 9:45 and she's up now getting one last bottle. She'll go right back to sleep til about 5 or so. Then she'll go right back to sleep til about 8.

Newborns and Sleep

DD was going to bed around 9 from 3 weeks, now it's usually 7-8. My older daughter goes to bed around 7, so it's at that point that we move upstairs for "bed" for the little one. I don't keep her up, when she starts yawning or fussing I nurse her and then put her down to bed.

Re: Newborns and Sleep

There was no such thing as going to "sleep" for the night when DD was a newborn.
She dozed for 20 min increments- all day and night.
Yeah, good times!

Ds is 3 weeks and we try to put him to sleep around 9. But it depends on his feeding schedule - if he's due around 10 we wait til then.
