Eczema
Does anyone have any tips for helping eczema? Ny poor baby is so itchy and nothing seems to be helping.

See your pediatrician; he/she will be able to give you a prescription for stronger hydrocortisone or whatever. Unfortunately, that didn't work for us and the whole thing went out of control until we saw two dermatologists and tried many medications. Right now, we use CeraVe (in the jar) after baths and over the counter cortisone for flare-ups.

You can try the aveeno baby oatmeal baths. Make sure you're using an unscented wash, we've had the best success with california baby super sensitive. Then as soon as he gets out of the tub pat dry really quick and immediately slather on the cream. If you're using sunblock you may need to try a few to find one that doesn't irritate their skin. I also give more baths in the summer to wash off all the sweat and build ups and try to put her in loose clothing. We do have a prescription steroid cream for bad break outs but I usually try aquafor first which works most of the time.

This. How old is your child?
He is 13 months. He had a very small patch around his ankles and now it seems to be everywhere. We have a prescription from ped but that was when it was a small patch .
I just switched to soy milk a week ago and its gotten worse.

You can ask the ped to order a blood test to see what allergies he has and what would be a good option in terms of milk. We had one done and the ped included soy, almond, coconut so we knew what we could offer.

put the aquafor when still damp.
Epsom salt in the bath
Go to a derm
I have a Rx steroid as well, but I use it sparingly

Trust me, I know...all this is with my third kid too. My older two had mild baby eczema that resolved itself very early, but this kid had it raging from like a month old until he was around 22 mos. It was the kind where people would stop and ask what it was and then offer aaaallll kinds of advice and remedies...I tried 'em all! Except for bleach baths--google that...it's supposed to be very effective!
Anyway, he was diagnosed with the egg allergy definitively at 12 mos (but we sort of figured it out after a reaction at 9 mos to egg salad (which, btw, he had eaten eggs two or three times prior but didn't like)). Our ped suggested eliminating all egg products--pancakes, etc--but his skin still did not clear up.
Then after the peanut reaction (at age 2, first exposure), we had him tested and in addition to the major allergies, his bloodwork showed low-level allergies to soy, wheat, and dairy. We never eliminated those, but sometimes I wonder if maybe those were the cause at the time...especially dairy since he spit up all day every day for the first year 
Well, good luck...I hope it's just "one of those things."

My son has terrible eczema. The advice I got from my pediatrician that works is this:
Baths are good, so you don't need to skip or stop bathing dc regularly. When you do give a bath, use Dove White (the bar - not the bodywash). If DC likes to play in the bath, let them play first and wash their hair and body last and take them out immediately. The soap in the water is very drying to the skin. Use CereVe in the tub (pumps/bottle because it's not thick enough). You need to put the cream on within 3 minutes of getting your DC out of the tub. Put cream on as often as possible. I tend to do it every morning and at bath time. If he's recovering from a flare up, I'll even get what's exposed during a diaper change.
I just purchase Vanicream sunscreen because it's supposed to be good extra sensitive. My DS is having a horrible time with sunscreen right now.
When it really flares up the only thing that will make it go away is the cortisone ointment that was prescribed by his pediatrician.
I was using cetaphil wash, extra sensitive california baby products, honest products etc and the pediatrician said that even though they are "natural" products, their is stuff in them that can irritate the skin. I swear by the Dove now!

DS is 6 and has had eczema since he was a baby. It is much more under control now.
When he has a flare up, we have to use the Rx our pediatric dermatologist gave us (Dr Kristal - HIGHLY recommend him!!!)
We also do some things routinely to try to prevent flare ups - some baking soda in the bath (we buy big bags of it at Costco now!), Cetaphil (in the tub) after baths and if we have time once a day, NO dryer sheets, All free aNd clear detergent, COTTON clothing ONLY - NO polyester!!!!, including no fleece pjs, Dove sensitive skin body wash.
Sunscreen is still an issue for us - still trying to find one that doesn't irritate his skin. At the moment, I think Blue Lizard is working (recommended by Dr Kristal).
Just wanted to mention that DS also has allergies - had egg allergy which he has since outgrown, and is allergic to nuts and shellfish. I sometimes wonder if there is more going on bc of the continued eczema, and, believe it or not, cradle cap.

A lot of babies are allergic to milk or soy or both. For my DD, milk caused awful eczema. Good luck!

My daughter is 6 years old now, but had eczema as an infant until around 2.5 years. At age 4, her eczema came back with a vengeance about 1 to 2 months after her 4 year vaccinations. It took about 9 to 12 months to go away. Currently, she does not have any eczema except for some depigmentation in one spot.
I definitely recommend food allergy testing. My daughter had the skin prick test at age 4, which was negative. She had a blood test at age 6, which came back positive for wheat, milk, corn, egg whites and peanuts (mild/moderate). I noticed that if she eats these foods in excess, it can cause her skin to itch in the spots where she had the eczema (elbow creases, behind knee). Her health is also so much better since i have limited these foods--less allergy coughs, etc.
I really believe I have been able to control her skin issues through diet and probiotics.

This is what my ped suggested as well. I don't towel dry my kids (both have terrible eczema, especially behind the knees). I apply Cerave cream while their skin is still damp. Avoid lotions because they contain alcohol which aggravates the condition. Most of the time, this is enough to keep flare ups at bay but sometimes-especially in the summer-I will need to use the cortisone ointment.

My dd has eczema and at one point it was all over her face. I read somewhere that ezcema could be a sign of a dairy allergy and at the time dd was drinking a ton of cows milk. I ended up switching her to almond milk and the change in her skin has been amazing! I wish I had a before and after pic to show you.

While in WalMart last week, I saw a Cerave product for babies in the baby department. I went to the regular creams area and found the regular stuff in the tub. This has made a world of difference for my DS. And I use the Eucerin Skin Calming wash (in the gold bottle) in the bath, to wash him.
