Hip clicking at 4 mo visit

We went for DS 4 month well n the dr heard his left hip click twice during the exam. She has never heard a click in previous visits. He displays no other symptoms (everything is symmetrical), he was not breech, no family history if HD. He was a c-section but I don't know if that matters. I have had no problems changing him and seems to move both legs equally and has no problem opening his hips. Anyway, she says it may be nothing but wants me to take him to a ped. ortho. just to be safe. I know HD is fixable with the harness... But I would be so sad to see him in one. Has anyone had their child have hip clicks and ended up being fine?

My DD had that when she was about 6 months old. We went for the sono and everything turned out fine. She's now 7.5yo and has never had a problem with her hips since.

Their little bodies change so much that first year, it could've been just a fluke that it clicked the day you saw the ped.

Our ped thought there was a click at one of the real early visits. She checked at the next one again and it was fine. I think it was earlier than 4 months- maybe at the 2 week or 1 month.

My dd has had clicking since birth. She is followed by a ped. ortho every few months and nothing has come of it yet. She also wasn't breech, vaginal delivery, no family history.

DD had hip dysplasia and was in the harness from 3 days old until 12 weeks and another 6 weeks just at night. In the end it wasn't a big deal and went quickly. The ortho will do a quick sono to take some measurements and that's it to see if they'll need treatment. Our ped heard clicking on one side and the ortho ended up finding an issue with both sides although the treatment is the same whether it's one or both sides. DD was not breach and I had no idea until this happened that there was some family history. Definitely see the ortho asap bc if he needs treatment, the sooner you start the quicker it will be. Hopefully it's nothing though!

DD's doc heard a click on her last visit (4 months) but thought it might be ligaments snapping. I still hear it here and there so getting a little nervous. I have her 5 month visit on Monday, so I guess we'll see if she's going to send us for further testing.

Well, I was able to get an appt with the ped. ortho. tomorrow, so at least I wont have to wait long... I keep telling myself that if he needs a harness, its no big deal... but it will make me so sad to see him in one...

My DD was in the same situation. Ped heard a click at 2 or 3 months, but she was fine before that. We went to one ped ortho, and she felt it and said that DD would need to be in the harness for 6 weeks. I was hysterical, even though it's no big deal in reality. We went to Winthrop for a sono, and it showed that everything was absolutely fine, and we were told there that there was no reason for her to be in the harness. Went back to the ortho, who then did not feel the click, but still wanted her to wear it for 2 weeks, just in case. I was not happy with that response , since the sono was completely clear. A week later, we got a second opinion with a very well-respected ped ortho, who did another sono in office, and confirmed that there was no reason for DD to be in the harness.
