Two story house & infant
I have an odd situation wondering if any of you ladies faced the same. I have a two story house...all bedrooms upstairs. DS has started a pretty regular sleep schedule; he goes down around 8pm and wakes for a feeding around 1am. At 8 we usually have him in the bassinetr downstairs with us but we find ourselves whispering and tip toeing not to mention working diligently to keep anything from triggering the dog to bark. Naturally we realize DS should start going upstairs at 8 but I am a worried new mom (first child and he's only 7 weeks) and I hate having him up there. What if he spits up and I dont see it? Etc. We have a baby monitor set up but even so I'm having trouble with this transition even though I know it is best for all of us. Any tips/experiences/advice? TIA!

we also have a 2 story house with all bedrooms upstairs. i just keep the monitor by me while i'm downstairs (and check it constantly lol) and ive never had an issue

Two story house & infant
We have a two story house. Right now DS is still in our room and goes to bed at 10 when we go to bed. Once he starts going for longer stretches/stops constant nursing anywhere from 6-9:30, I plan on moving him to his room and will use the monitor to check on him.
As for spit up and what not, there are many times now that he spits up while we are sleeping and I do not realize it - so if he was to be in a different room not much would change.

Same here. And being on the same floor with the baby isn't going to allow you to know every time they spit up. My babies often spit up after they were already in their crib and sleeping. It was never an issue. Worst case scenario, there was a little dried spit up on them when they woke up and I'd change them. If my daughter spits up a lot when she's sleeping, she wakes up and gets upset about it, so I obviously hear her on the monitor and go take care of it.

I think when you are ready DC will be fine upstairs as long as you can see him on the monitor. Although, having some noise from you guys and the dog is probably comforting bc he heard them when he was in your belly. Even when he was sleeping.

Exactly this. It's better long term. We kept them downstairs until we were comfortable... With the TV on in the same room.

Just put him in his room, he will be fine and you will start to get your life back. Trust me, he will be fine! Just keep the monitor on. Babies have a way of letting you know when they need you.

Exactly what I was going to say.
Any time DS or DD spit/threw up in their crib, they woke up and cried.

Two story house & infant
We did the same thing for the first couple of weeks. She would sleep downstairs in her swing until she woke for her bottle around 10/11pm and then we would all go upstairs to sleep.

Thank you ladies! I was out tonight when DS went to sleep at 8 so he is downstairs but i have vowed to start bringing him up tomorrow! I made DH promise that he will make me do it haha. I wouldn't mind him sleeping down here at all but when the dog barks ( she has a reeeally loud bark ) DS startles and cries. And she randomly barks for unknown reasons. So that is mostly why it's important I start bringing him up. Will let you know how it goes!! Thank you again!!!
