We did both on the same day. We had the Baptism ceremony at the church and we went back to my sister's house for a pool/birthday party/BBQ/Baptism celebration. Since he turned one, I did a combination of Baby Mickey decorations (baby blue) and Christening decorations. It was perfect.

We did both. I would say the birthday is better. It's more fun to plan and you aren't dealing with the stress of newborns and hormone craziness,

I did his Baptism at a restaurant with like 50 ish people. Wr are doing his 1st birthday at my house. We had him baptized at 6 weeks so I just did not want to plan anything at home.

Thanks! We are leaning toward a big 1st birthday since it will be summertime, and we have a nice sized yard.

We did both. BUT if I had to chose, I would go with the big first bday party. Especially if its in the summer and you have a nice yard, you'll save a lot of money doing an at home party.

We did immediate family for amChristening and big for the first birthday. She enjoyed the first party obviously but we liked that she wasn't passed around and around because she was on the move.

I'd do birthday. They'll be older and more predictable.
I'd be nervous with a lot of people around when they are so young, at the beginning of flu season.

I would do a big first birthday and just a small something with close family for christening. IMO capturing these memories and having your LO spending time with family for whatever reason is invaluable.
