What are your 9 month olds eating

MY DD is 9 months and she is eating purees, yogurt, oatmeal, puffs, mum mums. She just started with some shredded or ground chicken and eggs.

Just wondering what your LOs are eating...

My DD is 7 months and eats everything I eat. I just cut it into small pieces. The only exception is I do not eat meat or dairy.

Re: What are your 9 month olds eating

Julian is eight months old.

He eats stage two and three solids - Earth's Best Organic.

7am - 8 oz. formula (Similac Sensitive) plus oatmeal cereal mixed with Earth's Best apples (stage two) or Greek Yogurt (I like the Fage). I usually add some of the formula to that mixture to make it the right consistency.

10am - two six ounce jars of stage three fruits. He loves it all: blueberry/apple, pumpkin/apple, banana, mango, pear, prunes, raspberry, etc. I mix his RX multi-vitamins in with this feeding - in one of the jars. It is liquid.

1pm - 8 oz formula plus two six ounce jars of stage three veggies - he loves all the veggies too: spinach, green beans, snow peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc.

4pm - he used to have another bottle at this feed but recently decided he was over that lol. So, we took away that bottle and we give him one jar now instead at this time. The doc said this is pretty normal - to slowly move away from the bottle feedings. So, he usually has a meat at this feeding. Earth's Best makes a variety of like: summer veggies and turkey, chicken and cranberry, sweet potato and chicken, lentil, rice, and turkey, etc. He loves them all as well.

Also, we have been giving him the greek yogurt, little small pieces of cheese to try, mum mum's, organic puffs from whole foods that are made with kale - he likes those a lot. I have not tried a scrambled egg yet but I will.

7pm: last bottle, 8 oz, with oatmeal cereal again.

The thing is: he is teething, sadly, but has no actual teeth yet. And he's eight months so most babies have a tooth or two. So, I still give him everything to try but I am a little more nervous than if he had a tooth or two or three! But, all in all, we are little by little trying all sorts of stuff. It's just he loves the Earth's Best and it's convenient and healthy so I opt for that now.

DS just turned 8 months. I feel like i must be under feeding him. He doesnt eat as much as your DS, but maybe thats bc im not offering it. He has 2 jars of fruit and 1 jar of veggies per day, 4 tablespoons of oatmeal, and about 28 oz's of formula. I was wondering when I should start upping his "jars" -- I do the same Earths best, and he loves it.
I have given puffs...and sometimes i sub a fruit for yougurt.
I havent tried mum mums or cheese. What cheese is best to start with? My DS also has no teeth!

What are your 9 month olds eating

My DD is 9 mos and she eats 3x/day but barely eats 1/2 jar at each feeding. We do stage 2 fruits, veggies and meats. She loves oatmeal too. We also do finger foods which she loves, Cheerios, puffs, blueberries, banana, sweet potatoes, waffles, anything really as long as its not too sugary or salty. She is still EBF and she nurses when she wakes up, then gets 2 5 oz bottles while I'm at work and then nurses to sleep. She was 20 lbs at her 9 mos checkup so even tho it seems like she doesn't eat alot she's still gaining and growing.

Re: What are your 9 month olds eating

A few tablespoons of oatmeal in the morning, also stage 2 jars of fruits, veggies, & meat. Also table foods, whatever we are eating... eggs, yogurt, pasta, meat, toast... he loves to eat so he'll try anything, I just give him tiny bites. He doesn't really get the concept of finger foods yet so we mostly feed everything to him (if I put the food in his hand he'll just play with it). Also 4-5 bottles of breastmilk a day (approx. 25 ounces a day).

Re: What are your 9 month olds eating

9 months:

1tbs cereal and 2oz fruit or yogurt for breakfast
1tbs cereal and 2oz vegetable stage 2 for lunch
2-4oz turkey/chicken stage 2 for dinner.
If DD finishes what I give her I will offer her more, but she usually won't even finish what I offer.

She also eats puffs. Maybe 1 out of 4 end up in her mouth. The rest end up on the floor. Little yum teething crackers, again after 1/4 to 1/3 of the cracker it's on the floor.

She "drinks" water, but mostly uses it as a mouth wash. Rinse and spit. Doesn't like juice.

GOOD TIMES!!!

No, you are fine!!! DaniRella has said it before, her 8 month old is enormous. Not fat, just big. Last time she posted his stats he was double what my DD was and my DD is a month older. She eats way less than her DS. If I fed my DD what she feeds her DS my kid would explode. Likewise if she fed her DS what I feed my DD he would likely be a very hungry and cranky boy!

b2b- sounds like you are doing great. You could try a stage 3 and see how he likes it. If it works out go for it, if not wait it out a bit. As for cheese, I started with cottage cheese and cheese sauce on turkey/chicken dinner purées. But that was when I was making my own.

YEP!

I was just going to say - don't worry at all, my son is HUGE.

The ped called in three med school students that are shadowing him into the room the other day at his well visit. He asked them to guess how old Julian is -- each guessed 16 months, 18 months, and 2 years old!!!!! He was like, he is eight months LOL! Then they examined his growth chart in shock Chat Icon

And I have asked him over and over again that Julian eats more than like every other kid ever and the ped's like hey, he's so tall, and he's not even chunky so the height merits that amount of food - give him as much as he wants. So, we do.

But no worries at all!! Totally normal - all the kids at day care, right around his age, eat similar to what you stated your child eats. Chat Icon

Re: What are your 9 month olds eating

At 9 months my DD was eating anything and everything (except fish/peanuts). As long as it was safe for her I'd give her anything we were eating. She is now 11 months and has a fabulous diet. I make all of her food. Some of her favs are:

potato leek soup
butternut squash soup
any veggie
any fruit
any pasta/ravioli
chicken
steak
eggs
yogurt
