If your toddler started to fight naps......

How long did it last for? Did they stop napping all together? My dc is 22m and we are on day 5 of no naps. DC will roll around in the crib and cry, whine etc. for over an hour and still won't fall asleep for a nap. Dc has only been sleeping about 9-10 hours overnight. Dc usually sleeps through the night but had major separation issues with daddy last night and we all got NO sleep. This is causing so much stress on all of us. We all need sleep especially dc and those naps are so important. Please tell me this wont last too long. I'm going crazy !!!

Ugggh, we're on about day 4 of nap issues here. DD has always been a great napper, but the last few days when I put her down she just cries and cries. If I go in and sit in the rocker she calms down and passes out within minutes. It's so frustrating! The only difference is that shes been sleeping in an extra hour or more in the morning (which is great!) but obviously she's tired since she does pass out quickly and I end up having to wake her up. I tried putting her down later today but it didn't help. I'm hoping within a few days she'll go back to normal bc it's making me crazy.

It won't last long! My DD did it around 2, 2.5 and just recently at 3. She goes for a day or two where she tells me she isn't tired, or that she already slept. I just clearly tell her that she can sit in her bed and read a book, play with her babies, tell a story quietly, etc, but she has to stay in there for one hour (until her clock turns green). I really think that dropping naps happens more gradually i.e. kids are harder to put down at night or waking up very early. I don't think that kids go from taking regular naps one day (in my daughters case it was 2+ hrs) to not napping the next. I felt like it was more of a power struggle or feeling like she was missing something. I would just be consistent about your expectations.

At 22M I would continue to put down in crib...even if he/she has quiet time. If he was in daycare they make all children lay down if they want to or not.

Still rough here too. Last night it spread to bedtime, so we let her CIO and she went down after about 40 minutes. I was hoping that would help with naptime today and decided not to go in and she cried (not too intensely) for about 15-20 minutes before passing out. We'll see if tonight's bedtime and tomorrow's nap are better. Hopefully they'll both get back on track soon!

It was always a battle getting DD down for a nap.
Right before she turned 2, we had 3 good months of consistent napping but it slowly went down hill.
She would cry & scream each day for weeks & I couldn't handle it so I just kept her up.
We start bedtime at 6:45.
It's been about 6 months now & she is still tired & cranky at the end of the day because she really should have taken a nap but at least she goes right to bed now.
