Re: Blog post from a working mom

I actually think that's great

i'd much rather have someone who loves and cares for my child looking after them than someone who doesn't.

My sitter has said many times that they all love my DS and he's like a member of their family. I know how much they care for him and it makes me feel good to know that he's feeling the love while we're not there.
I don't in any way think it diminishes what I or my DH feel or get in return.

I worked at a daycare for several years and I can say I truly did love some of the kids. I babysat for a lot of them outside of daycare as well which allowed me to interact with them on a more personal level.

I agree with the pp, I would much rather have someone that loved my kids then someone just going through the motions.

Agreed. But for some SAHM turned FTWM, it can be a hard concept to adjust to. I know it was for me at first. (Now I love how much my daughters love school!)

I love that my dd's daycare teachers love her to pieces. I know she's well taken care of and loved. There's one mom at daycare who told the teachers that her son was to receive no affection from anyone. How sad to me. You are leaving your child with someone for 8 hours a day and he will get no affection all day? I hope they sneak hugs to him from time to time.

That was great! I'm a school psychologist and her realization at work really hit true with me.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Is that for real?! How could someone *possibly* think that that is what's best for their child? I can't wrap my head around it.
