A child's cold!!

Anyone have any quick fixes or anything to help get rid of a cold in children. My 1 year old and 4 year old both have colds. Runny nose is the worst. Especially on the 1 year old who can't blow it and hates when I wipe it. I know there aren't any real quick fixes but I just mean any advice on anything u might do that has helped with colds?

Agree with above poster.

also Ask your ped if they are ok with benedryl to help dry up them up & recommended dose for their weight. Really helps my son, especially at night

My son doesn't like getting his nose wiped either, but he tolerates boogie wipes better than dry tissues. The Nose Frida after a saline spray also helped so much to get his nose clear for at least a short while. I feel your pain... it felt like my son had a cold for almost the entire winter, and hearing him gasp to breathe while he ate, and crying "nose! nose" each time he almost fell asleep but woke up because he was so snotty... it sucked. Hang in there.

Beandryl is the BEST when my kid's have a cold, allows them to breath and helps them sleep, my Ped allows very conservative doses (1/4 tsp for my little guy when he was 9m and 1/2 tsp for my DD since she was about 2)

Re: A child's cold!!

For my 4 year old i give the claritin chewables. It dries her up quickly. For my 2 year old i use ayr saline spray this stuff is awesome, vaporub on chest and neck, motrin at night with a cool mist humidifier. My kids get sick every month. This is our routine.

vicks pediatric plug ins really help DS (they don't have menthol in the pediatric ones, but the work great! DH and I have used it in our own room too!)

Re: A child's cold!!

Both my 4 and 2 yr olds also have a cold. Just waiting it out. DS1 is on allergy meds anyway. Wiping their nose, washing hands, Vicks plug ins, steam in the bathroom, nasal spray, etc.
