my kids will be 14months and I want to get some new toys that will catch their interest on the plane. Nothing that's too loud obviously! Tia

need toy ideas for plane trip

I put a bunch of blocks in a zip lock bag and my 11 month old son loved that. I also brought a few books and a new toy that I gave to him for the first time on the plane

Re: need toy ideas for plane trip

do they like books? dd is their age basically and she's book obsessed. whenever we go to a restaurant or somewhere I wasn't to "appease" her where she can't be crawling around - I give her books. she likes the 1st dictionary books - she has one of all animals and a baby Einstein one, where it's just a bunch of pictures with the names of things. she will point and want to know what things are, or be asked where things are, for quite some time. also, my mom got her this "little people" book for Christmas - but they might have others - where each page, there's like 20 different flaps to open, to see pictures on the other side. that one keeps her busy forever too.

Check out the target dollar section, they usually have great stuff. 2 packs of little books, coloring books, activity packs (a little bag with a mini coloring book, 4 crayons, and a sheet of stickers-dd loves taking everything in and out of the bag as much as actually using the stuff), mini magnadoodles, stickers, flashcards.

Wrap everything in a tissue paper or a wrapping paper and let them unwrap it.
Get some crayons, aquadoodle, stickers, get planty of stickers. Bring snacks, if you have it, bring an iPad or a DVD player, maybe some of their favorite books.
We fly to Europe 2-3 times a year and every little thing helps.

Re: need toy ideas for plane trip

How long is the flight? We just flew 4 hours (read 10 hour day door to door with 1 layover, oy vey) to Phoenix with our 14 month old.

I had a HUGE stash of things - she is very squirmy and doesn't want to sit still, won't watch movies well or play with an iPad. We did bring the DVD player anyway and used it for about 10 minutes.

Snacks were our best friend. We fed snacks very slow, 1 every hour.

I also think a mini piggy bank made from an almond can and quarters was a huge hit. Lots of books and other things for her to play with. A Mini magna doodle was fun…she didn't "get it" at first but on the way back she loved it!

See below pic for ideas and I put everything in little bags so I could reach down and grab one!

We did this: top of the hour read books 15 min, then play with a few toys for 15 min, then eat a snack for 15 min, then change diaper or do something random. Then start all over. DD didn't sleep a wink from 6:45am till 3:00pm when we landed. crazy girl!
