I got the scam phone call too- here is what to look for

So the number was weird on the caller ID.

Then when I picked up and said hello (in my snarky voice of "f you telemArketer", it actually rang.

the ringing was caused by the computer THEY use. They get a voice on the line then patch it through to a live person.

Then in a VERY foreign accent, I'm guessing an African accent, I get the pich "hello, my name is_____, and we have detected a problem with your windows computer.

And of course I hung up.

I would not have cell for it, but a BIG thank you to the OP of the other thread.

I am attaching a picture of the caller ID. I don't expect you to get the same number, but you can at least see what it looks like and be aware.

I never answer the phone unless I recognize the number.
But I wish I did. Because when he said, we have detected a problem with your Windows I'd say- Ok what is it?
And then I'd play along and have so much fun with this asshole.
Or I'd say I don't have a Windows computer... we are an Apple only household jerk off!

I don't think I would fall for it. I mean it sounds kind of far-fetched for them to say we detect a problem with your computer through a phone call, KWIM?

I'd be thinking, OK, you hacked into my computer and now you are calling me to tell me that? What person in this day and age would fall for that (besides the older generation)?
