I use Organic Valley.
organic valley gets the same rating as the amish brand. from my minimal research, they are both ultrapasteurized. i'm looking for an organic, pasteurized milk from a supermarket but it doesnt seem to exist!
Organic valley does have a line that isn't ultra pasteurized...you can get organic pasteurized milk at whole foods or fairway.

With organic milk you are avoiding cows that have been given antibiotics, added hormones, gmo feed and feed with certain pesticides. Since these cows are grain fed, their ratios of omega 6 and omega 3's are out of balance (which is more inflammatory for the human body).
Organic milk is from cows that must graze on pasture a certain number of days out of the year. As pp have stated, there are health benefits to milk from grass fed cows.
However, if you can afford it, grassfed organic milk is even better than standard organic milk because those cows see pasture almost the entire year.
We do organic because grassfed is not available.

Trader Joe's whole milk is organic and pasteurized, not ultra.

Would love the answer to this too, I've researched it up and down and can't find a good response. I saw some studies linking ultra-pasteurization to a slight nutrient loss but can't find anything else.

I looked at the gallon jugs because I read this info on here, and they most definitely said ultra-pasteurized. Did they change it recently?

Ultra pasteurizing basically heats up the milk at a much higher temperature and for a longer amount of time. It basically kills off everything; that’s why it has a much longer shelf life than pasteurized and also has the cooked milk taste.
My problem with ultra-pasteurized is that since it’s heated up longer and hotter it has also killed off the enzymes that are needed for digestion. I’m not a milk drinker, but since having my son I’ve also read that ultra-pasteurized is the same milk in the unrefrigerated aisle in the box. I want my son’s diet to consist of fresh food. So in my mind (which could be wrong) pasteurized milk is fresher than ultra-pasteurized.

. Try Skytop Farms ( avaliable at Whole Foods ) Natural by Nature ( Whole Foods and Fairway ) and Rooney Brook farms (whole foods and fairway ) Rooney Brook doesn't have the organic label , but the way they raise their cows fits with the organic standard. Some people call them " beyond organic "

We do lactaid which is hormone free. I will do organic once they are off lactaid. Maybe it's different to us b/c my girls were FF so Lactaid (which costs more than organic) is SO much cheaper than formula. If you buy at BJs its always cheaper. Evan Target prices aren't bad. And Organic lasts longer so you can buy a bunch at a time. We keep like 7 on hand in our garage fridge. If you do the math it's really just a few bucks per month and worth it IMO. All the crap they put in foods that were never there when we were kids is just ridiculous. Especially meats and dairy with the hormones.

We do only organic. I made the decision based on 2 ideas.
1) It tastes better to me.
2) I pumped BM for 19 months and did a lot of research on it. If I ate better and took care of myself I made better milk. I can only assume it would be the same for a cow.
I know that organic does not mean the cow is happy. I can only assume that the cows are treated better.... If I had the option to buy free range/grass fed milk I would
