Starting food, rice cereal, etc
i started DD on oatmeal at 4months. i let her try to rice cereal later on, around 6 months, she didn't get bound up, but i preferred the oatmeal to the rice anyway.

also, there is no need to get a baby "used to food" at 4 months. there is no rush. my ex ped insisted that if i didnt feed my kids rice cereal at 4 months, they would develop feeding issues. I waited till 6 months and now they are absolute piggies and eat everything in sight.
I meant getting used to digesting food in general, not necessarily at 4 months, and not meaning getting used to just eating. Breaking down food is a different physiological process that an infant's body must adapt to - that is what I was referring to. I agree that there is no rush, I personally didn't start until almost 7 months because I knew my DD had allergies amongst other things.

i started bc they were drooling staring at us eating and trying to get the food
DD is almost 3 mos and I'm starting to feel terrible eating in front of her! She stares at us and sticks her little tongue out and licks her lips. We'll see what the pediatrician says in the coming mos.
