Oh my GOD that is HORRIBLE!! And really to the woman that joined in with her?? WTF??
Please, please, PLEASE file a report especially if you have other people agreeing to be witnesses.
Clearly she was WAY off her rocker and yes you were definitely the victim of reverse discrimination. The subway stops have video cameras, if they know what station this happened in they can perhaps get the video footage of her.
Now I really wish you'd had videoed her...

I'm really sorry you had to experience that.
I was really surprised that the woman joined in with her... she was trying to stop the filmer from harassing me, but because "I don't want this white woman getting you in trouble. You're not going to let this become your fault." There were at least 20 people around us on the platform. I actually asked a woman to get a cop and started to explain what was happening and she actually said to me "Whatever, I don't care." and put her hand in my face for me to leave her alone.
I know they CAN do all those things to find this woman, but really, and I mean really think deep down... do you think anyone will? Do you think anyone cares enough? I truly doubt it. And it makes me so sad. I've been feeling this way for awhile, just very sensitive, my emotions bubbling right below the surface. The news and everything, the gov't shut down, the bikers, I mean, it's all just so.... sad. I have very little faith left in the human race.
I think you don't know until you try.
As for the woman who said, "whatever, I don't care" she's an asshole and a poor excuse of a human being. She will get hers as will the other two women.
Try not to be too disillusioned, there ARE good people in this world. If I had been there and you turned to me and asked that I get a cop, I would have and I'd like to think you just wound up in a really bad spot.

I'm so sorry this happened to you - that's incredibly frightening and i can see why your faith in humanity is being questioned.
Is there any way you can file a report against this woman? She harrassed you and could have caused you plenty of harm if you had actually fallen on the tracks! Not to mention she actually assaulted you with plenty of witnesses.
You may want to just put it all behind you, but it may help you feel better and deal with it if you get her in trouble.
(i'm also sorry the person on the platform sided with her, why did they do that??)

Look, you did what you thought was the right thing to do to keep you safe. Don't second guess yourself one bit because you don't know what would have happened if you had fought back.
As for being singled out, I think it has more to do with your size. You're tiny, like 5'1" or something, right? I think that's the attraction. It's TOTALLY wrong but I think that's why you're preyed upon.
I'm 5'9" and when I ride the train I always have a look of disgust on my face for the simple reason of keeping the crazy away.
It's sad that this is what it comes down to to stay safe.

My DH was... less than supportive... he basically said "Well, people are crazy, that's what you get for making a comment." I was very hurt by this. I know this. I know people are crazy, but I can't help it. I can't stand to see someone else getting bullied and just stand there and watch. That Indian man did nothing wrong and if I didn't step in, I guarantee he would've been the one dodging fast food. And it made me even more sad because it almost sounded like... like he wouldn't have done anything. Like he would've let her harass someone else, like he would've been one of those people on the platform who wouldn't help.  I never want to be one of those people. Never.

eff that! I'm glad you said something. People shouldn't be afraid to speak up for themselves. These were my feelings about it exactly- if I said nothing, she would've just continued to be that way! If my stepping up to her gives her even a seconds pause before acting that way next time, it's something. Thank you so much. It's nice to know that some people actually would do something in that situation. Again, I didn't expect ANYONE to get between us, but I couldn't believe no one would get a cop.

That animal has a video of HER harassing YOU.
File the police report, look for the video if you can - from what you've said I think it actually can work in your favor.

I'm right there with you, I see stuff like this or read about it in the papers all the time, but it still shocks me. Every time. And trust me, my DH is WELL aware of how I feel. Clearly, I'm not one to hold things in!

Thank you. I'm sure the video would work in my favor. She was batshit insane. That's why I was so fine with going and getting a cop so she could have me arrested. I didn't think they'd arrest HER or anything, but they'd probably make her wait while I left on a train so nothing further happened. There was nobody- not a conductor or anything.
