Thanks everyone. Our ped must hate me since she insists he be woken up at night meanwhile all of these other peds say letting them sleep is fine. lol!!
Thank you.
My ped said to wake her up, I said no. LOL
So glad I did that because a few weeks later at our second appointment we had a different doctor, and that doctor was like "i hope you arent waking her up at night!"
Two different drs at my pediatrician's have told me to wake the baby to feed. This drives me nuts that so many of you don't. It kills me to wake her when she's peacefully sleeping. She's definitely woken up on her own so I agree that babies will wake on their own to feed.
I think I need to revisit this at her one month visit.

Re: When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
I have never, ever woken either of my kids at night to eat. That's crazy! They woke when they were hungry and STTN when they were ready which luckily for me, was at 8 weeks for them both. Up until then, I fed them when they woke up which was anywhere from 3-5 hrs between bottles. But no way would I wake them for a bottle.

Re: When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
has the ped been happy with his weight gain? we woke for about 4-5 weeks because they were born 5 pounders. their weights were great and slowly crept up. i think they were about 8 lbs when we go tthe green light to stop waking.

When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
NEVER EVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY(unless the house is burning). If babe is hungry or uncomfortable they will let you know. Never had a dr advise me to wake my babies.

Re: When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
I never woke up my kids, my PED told me to make sure and feed them at night at least every 5-6 hrs first few weeks but I never listened to him. And both my kids always gained more than they were supposed to every month .

Re: When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
I started waking my DS up for a dream feed around 3 months. It gave him a longer stretch of sleep, from 11-5 am. I still do it. I didn't one night this week and he started screaming horrifically at 1:30 am when I wanted to sleep.

Never woke up DS... Sleep is just as important as eating... Let him wake up on his own...

When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
DD is also 3 wks old. She was jaundice so we had to feed her every 3 hrs which meant waking her up all the time. Jaundice babies are very sleepy, but need to eat. After her weight went back up to her birth weight her doc said we could switch to on demand feelings but never to let her go more than 5 hrs. Her weight was back up by 12 days old.

I totally agree!
Of course if there is a weight gain issue that is different.

When did you stop waking your LO up at night for a bottle?
I never woke DS. He barely slept as it was, so there was NO WAY I was waking him when he actually did fall asleep...
