what did you use to potty train- POLL

I want to start potty training DD soon and my first step is to get seat for her, I am just torn between the potty and the training seat for the toilet, just want to see what others have done and recommend. I'd love to hear recommendations for specific ones you have used/liked/disliked too

With my first daughter she used a kids seat on the regular toilet. My second DD and my DS didn't use either of your choices. They just used the regular toilet with no kids seat. They potty trained at 24 months and 27 months and both had no problems using the regular toilet.

I personally would never use a kiddie potty. They gross me out.

We bought the potty originally but when the training actually finally happened they used a seat on the big toiilet

We used the baby bjorn potty seat and when he was fully trained we switched to the baby bjorn toilet seat cover. Theyre pricey but the most comfortable.

We bought both but really only used the seat over the toilet.
We use the potty outside I am not dragging 3 kids in everytime DD "thinks" she has to pee

I have both and DD gravitates toward the seat that goes on the regular toilet. I think it makes her feel like a big girl since she's sitting on the same potty as me.

Toliet seat for us. Never used a potty. Wanted them to get use to the grown up toilet and the sound of the flush. It helped when we left the house also. They weren't scared when we had to use a public restroom.

With my DD I bought a potty and we bought a new toilet seat that had the smaller toilet seat in the lid - the toilet seat broke and when we replaced it, we figured this would be best. When we actually got around to potty training her, she preferred the actual toilet most of the time.

With DS, he had no interest in the potty at all so he sat on the regular toilet seat (we moved, so we don't have the double seat anymore). No issues at all.

I used a seat on the regular toilet. I didn't want to clean a plastic toilet.

Both.
She was super tiny and didn't fit well on a regular toilet with the trainer. So for a few weeks it was a potty chair. then we let her pick out her training seat for the toilet. Made life so much easier.

Honestly I got a cheap ring seat from Walmart. Its not like I intended on keeping it for more than a few months anyway. No need to waste money. The potty chair my aunt went crazy and got here that princess one with music etc. Only good thing about it, is that she still uses it as a step up to the sink.

Before we even started potty training our ped. recommended not using a dedicated potty seat. He said that some kids have trouble transitioning from the seat to the actual toilet.
