Advice, quickly please

DD is 5 months. We just put her down and she keeps rolling over onto her belly. She's propping herself up and whining.

What do we do? We're standing here like fools, totally confused.

Advice, quickly please

I'd leave her, but I'm not sure that answer is so popular...

Re: Advice, quickly please

I would leave her too, but make sure there is nothing in the crib that she could get tangled in.

DD started wanting to tummy sleep around 4 months. It freaked me out at first, but I would just check on her periodically to make sure her mouth and nose were free.

Once they have good neck control, it's less scary.

Thanks everyone. We turned her mobile on (just the music) and she went right to sleep...on her back. She's never rolled in the crib before (only on her activity mat when we're playing during the day). I really appreciate the responses Chat Icon

Re: Advice, quickly please

U may have a few sleepless nights...with her waking or u waking to check on her! My DD would get stuck on her belly and would get pissed until she figured how to roll back. I had to flip her a few times and do some MOTN feedings but it only lasted a few days. Now she rolls all over on her crib and sleeps all different ways!

Once dd started to roll herself onto her tummy to sleep she started to sleep so much better. It freaked me and dh out too at first and the first time she did it dh went in and woke her up. But she's been fine. And I've been loving how much longer she sleeps.

Re: Advice, quickly please

our ped said once they can roll over themselves, you don't have to place them on their back anymore. they are able to figure out now which position they are more comfortable to sleep in safely

Yes but a lot of babies who slept on their stomachs are NOT here to tell the tale. So please don't say that.

If a baby is old enough to roll onto their stomach then it is safe to leave them that way. Putting a newborn on their back to sleep is an entirely different issue and has been proven to reduce the number of children lost to SIDS.

To the OP, I am glad she went to sleep, and in the future, it's fine to leave her Chat Icon
