Cradle cap cause bleeding

Does this happen? Dd has cradle cap and now I'm noticing a few spots of dried blood on her scalp.

I put baby oil on her head last night and brushed it gently. Anything more I can do?

Never heard of bleeding unless it gets really dry, I guess. If it's that bad, I'd call the ped and see what they recommend. I was told baby oil 15 minutes before a bath and then wash it off. Otherwise, it can further clog the pores.

I soaked her head with baby oil for a few hours, combed out as much of the flakes as I could and then washed her hair out.

I wouldn't want to use anything harsh being that there's bleeding. We use aquaphor. No fragrance and it's mild. Once it's healed you can try selson blue or head and shoulders.

Re: Cradle cap cause bleeding

if there's bleeding i would call the ped. DS had it and i put baby oil on his head and let it soak and then would brush it out. Took about a week of doing this though to get almost all of it gone.

Bleeding because she is scratching? Are there scabs? My DS had this and scratched at one point. I tried everything. Olive oil, baby oil, cradle cap over the counter "medicine", aquaphor, just about everything... The one thing that helped was TGEL. My ped said not to use because if we got in his eye, it would cause more damage than good. But I am EXTREMELY careful when using and only a small amount. I was tired of seeing him scratch. It was terrible ! Now it's clear. 7 months later and it's finally better.

Coconut oil, after it sits, comb lightly. As far as the bleeding, I would call ped.
