8 month old hitting?
Why is my 8 month old suddenly hitting and what do I do to stop it? He's been playing a lot with his new drum... could this be part of the problem or is this just a thing babies go through?

Re: 8 month old hitting?
Mine bang stuff too now. Sometimes my face lol. I just take their hand and say no. They laugh at me so I dont they get it. I was just reading one of those month by month emails and it said you can start disciplining (telling no) and redirecting. I'm not sure how much they really get now though but its a start. Mine also grab and bite eachother which can be bad once teeth come in. They do hurt each other so I move them and tell them no.

Re: 8 month old hitting?
My nephew and my DD both did it around that age. Didn't last long at all.

Re: 8 month old hitting?
I don't think it's really "hitting" at this age. Pretty much everything they do at this age is experimentation (whether with their bodies, voices, etc). My 8.5 mo old loves to pull hair and it HURTS. I just take her hand away and say "no pulling hair." Sometime she "smacks" my face (swats at it) and I take her hand and sort of smooth it against my face and say "do nice." Basically, I wouldn't worry that you have a "hitter" right now.
