how long until they actually ate it?

DD is 5 month and a week. She shutters and shivers when I try to put it on her mouth, she spits it right out.

I am thinking about just picking up some stage 1 veggies/fruits and circling back to cereal?

Both my kids hated cereal. I just never offered it anymore and went right to fruits and veggies

Food at that age is for practice, they really get most of their nutrition from breast milk and formula. My Ped always said that cereal is just a lot of empty calories. I think it's fine to skip it completely and go right to veggies.

we never gave cereal, you can skip it and move on to fruits and veggies or sub oatmeal instead

DD hated it when I 1st tried it, I think at 6 months. But, I waited a month and tried again and she liked it.

DS isn't a fan of plain cereal. We now mix it with a fruit and/or cinnamon and he loves it.

I started with oatmeal and DD hated it. I went right to bananas after 3 days and she hated that too. It was probably close to 2 weeks before she actually ate anything. I did continue to offer oatmeal and she eventually liked it. Plain oatmeal was one of the few things she always took even when she was not into eating anything a few months later.

Who says you have to give her cereal? At that stage, its just for practice. Give her some sweet pot or avacado.

I know that I don't have to start solids with her yet but I'd like to. My son was a very challenging eater (tongue thrust until 8 months and texture issues until 1.5) and if I can expose her early and she tolerates it, i'd like to

I tried it with DS twice, he was not a fan, I haven't tried again (he is 8.5 months)...I just give fruits and veggies.

Within 2 days i added apple sauce to his oatmeal. He really didnt like it plain.

I started fruits after 3 days of cereal with both boys - and then mixed them together.

She hates cereal, but loves apples so far... we are set to try bananas on Sunday... im pretty sure we will stop cereal soon

I never gave cereal(or any other baby food) to my kids.

I wouldn't personally keep giving my kids something they really hate. Foods in the first year are suppose to be a fun learning experience for them. Baby foods can be completely skipped so I am not for pushing it on them.

We began veg at 5.5 no because they have eczema and the ped said it could make it worse. Then we did fruit then added cereal to thicken once we allergy tested the main foods.
