My daughter had a girl in her class and invited her over....Swasti (she is Indian) came over and when her parents were thanking me for having her over they said thanks and we will see Swastika later
really awful name
My guess is that this is because the world Swastika in itself is of indian origin. From what I remember, it comes from ancient civilization that is now modern India and means something completely unrelated to what we associated it with in out days. I can't remember how it ended up representing what it represents but my guess is to Indian people, it doesn't mean what it means to us.

I get that .......but you're raising your child in NY and calling her Swastika definitely feel bad for the girl

I know a girl - 8th grader named Money.
When spoken it it "Monet" like the painter. She wants to be an accountant. Go figure.

Re: Shouldn't they have named her...
I had a boy named La Cream and a girl named Nemesis. There were twins in our school once named Angel and Legna (angel spelled backward) and two brothers, both named Edwin.
I also had a girl named Miss, which led to this exchange with our dean: Dean: What's your name? Child: Miss. Dean: Don't 'miss' me. What is your name?
This went on until the other kids finally jumped in and said her name was actually Miss.

Stirling is pretty bad - the new woman on RHOOC named her son that. Also Ledger - from Pretty Wicked Moms.
In her defense, Stirling is her maiden name. Still bad, though.
A friend of mine works in a bank and had customer named:
Jfmamjjasond. I can't even pronounce it but it's the first letter of each month.

My co-worker's cousins have some interesting names. I'll have to ask her tomorrow what they are because I remember saying WTFFFFF when I heard them!
