Holtsville Ecology Center?

Has anyone been since they started charging? I'm wondering what the non-resident fee is. Thanks!

Re: Holtsville Ecology Center?

they changed it to non-resident fee of $5! much better than $20. residents are $10 for a "pass" which is a 1 time fee for the whole season.

Re: Holtsville Ecology Center?

Do you get the resident pass right there at the gate. I wasnt aware of the charge, but happy to pay it if it keeps this place open.

The sticker covers all town beaches as well right? Or is that different?

That's what I was wondering. I have a valid TOB sticker so does that get me in or is the Ecology Center sticker it's own thing?

Re: Holtsville Ecology Center?

Just saw this on The Patch:

The Town of Brookhaven has instituted the following parking fee information for residents and non-residents who wish to visit the Holtsville Ecology Center this season:

$5 per car, per day for all visitors to the Ecology Center. This includes Brookhaven residents and non-residents alike.
A pro-rated yearly pass costing $10 per car is available for Brookhaven residents only. Residents will get a sticker affixed to their vehicle of choice and will allow for unlimited visits to the Center. The stickers expire on 12/31/2013.
Brookhaven residents that are seniors, veterans or handicapped can purchase the yearly pass described above for a fee of $7.
The yearly pass is ONLY available to Brookhaven residents.
The Holtsville Ecology Center has an animal preserve, hiking trails, tours and education programs, gardens and greenhouses, meeting rooms, a pool, picnic and playground area, Safety Town, and a compost site. It is located at 249 Buckley Road in Holtsville. Hours of operation are:
Weekdays: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Weekends (Seasonal) 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

I don't see anything about a $250 pass for non-residents.

Holtsville Ecology Center?

Is this place good for a 2 year old? They did this turtle thing a few weeks ago that I REALLY wanted to go to, but nobody from the site got back to me about if the event would be good for a 2 year old. Didn't want to go all the way out there to find out it wasn't a good idea for a little kiddo.

They must have change it, when I was there 2 weeks ago with DS, the sign out in front of the little booth had all the prices listed and that's where I saw the $250 fora yearly pass for non Brookhaven town residents.... The guy taking the money and handing out the parking passed confirmed it too, he even said it was ridiculous
