If You Witnessed A Crime....

Would you snitch? If so...would you be willing to go to court to testify?

Re: If You Witnessed A Crime....

I have in the past and testified and it was brutal. They tore me to shreds and the DA did nothing to help me.

I don't think I would be so willing again- plus I worked in the Bronx DA's office as a victim advocate and helped witnesses to violent crimes relocate. It completely ruined their lives.

I know that makes me a bad citizen.Chat Icon

Depends on the crime (like stealing office supplies - no.) I've already been a witness to a crime (rape) back in high school & was all set to testify. I was floored that some of the other kids didn't want to get involved.

if it were job related I am mandated to snitch as a social worker. I guess if I saw a crime on the street I would snitch as well...Ive never been in that situation...yet!

Re: If You Witnessed A Crime....

Wow, good, and tough question. I would like to think that I would do the right thing and report it, but, if I felt my safety was in jeopardy then...I can't say for sure. I'd probaby try to get lots of advice from people I trusted before making a decision.

Re: If You Witnessed A Crime....

When I was in college, my roomate and i walked out of our apartment and her car was parked right in front and there was some guy rifling through it(to steal stuff I guess) We called the cops and then they put us in their patrol car because they found the guy around the block. We were both kind of scared because we knew he knew where we lived but we said we thought it was him.

Re: If You Witnessed A Crime....

I ask this because last night I was watching a show on this and how many people would not snictch due to fear of their personal safety. And how now in society covering up for people is almost seen as a good thing to do.

Depends what it is and who did it. I'm not going to snitch if it means that I would seriously risk my safety.

I feel the same way. If my life and my family's life is not in danger then I would snitch.
