breastfeeding routine
just curious how you do a "round" of breastfeeding so to say. i mean like what order do you change diaper, burp, swaddle, reswaddle?
so let's say:
nurse on the left
burp
nurse on the right
burp again?
change diaper
swaddle
put down to sleep
last night was our first night home and a disaster. and im trying to find some answers

I always changed the diaper before the feeding because the diaper change would always wake him up more. So I would change the order to change the diaper first and then everything else seems ok. Good luck!

If for night time- always change diaper first or in between switching sides. So if your baby tends to fall asleep at the boob, feed one side then change diaper and feed on the other side.
Keep the swaddle on at all times!!! If your using a miracle blanket or swaddle me- you just need to pull out their bottom half and change the diaper.
Keep the lights and sounds low- put baby back to sleep after a little burping but you don't need to burp for a long time at night time feedings.

Same here. Good luck - it will get better soon!
Agreed. Once DD started getting fewer dirty diapers at night I eliminated the change altogether (unless it was dirty). It helped keep things quick and simple and I didn't even have to get out of bed.
Although in the very beginning it was more like change diaper, change diaper again, nurse both sides, reswaddle, change diaper again, rock forever, nurse again, change again, reswaddle, sleep for two hours. Those first few days can be really rough but it will get easier. Congrats btw!

you don't even really need to change the diaper between sides...you can just open and close it as if changing. Should be enough to wake the baby up.

Dd would wake up hungry so changing the diaper before wasn't an option. I would unswaddle, feed right, burp, diaper change, feed left, reswaddle

DS is almost three weeks old.. I unswaddle, change his diaper (which ticks him off because he's HUNGRY and hates getting his diaper changed but is much better than waking him up by doing it later), feed the first side 10 mins, the second side as long as he wants, burp, rock/shake, reswaddle, rock/shake, put in rock n play and if still not asleep rock until he's sleeping...

The first few nights are hard and not necessarily something that can be easily scheduled. But I would change diaper as soon as she woke, feed, then back to sleep. Each step wasn't always that easy but that was definitely the order. My LO never changed sides so diaper changes in between were not an option. But I also never swaddled - i found in the rock and play I could simply tuck a blanket underneath her and it served as a swaddle.
