DD smiles/reacts more to others than to me

Not so long ago, i posted about feeling like my 3mo DD was smiling more at my mom, who watches her 5 days a week while I work, than at me. More recently, I'm noticing that she is more smiley and reactive with EVERYONE than she is with me. i don't know what I'm doing wrong and I feel so insecure. Everyone else just looks at her or talks to her and she's all smiles from ear to ear and cooing, flapping around. No matter what i do, she just stares at me blankly. I try so hard. I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like she doesn't like me and its breaking my heart.

aww don't feel like that. I think it might be because she always sees you and when she sees someone new , it could be that she gets excited. Remember you are her mommy....you are her #1!!

You are boring lol. My one DD does this sometimes too. She loves new people. It always bothers me too but it shouldnt because they are just used to us. The other one stares new people down and will only smile for me (and DH if Im not in the room).

This..
She knows you and loves you
You are her whole world

I can honestly say that the times that AJ has rocked me to my last nerve in awe of her powerful love are times that contained no smiles. A deep searching look into my soul with such fierce seriousness in her. Man.. its scary how much our kids love us.

Give yourself a break.

You are stressing yourself out and she knows it. The more you look for it the more you'll see.

It's not like that, she loves you!

I can tell you that my daughter gives me a harder time than anyone else. All smiles with others and then turns into cranky pants with me. She also almost refuses to nap for me but she'll nap for everyone else.

Exactly what a PP said - you're boring, new people are NEW.

Babies/kids go through phases. Next week she's going to love the wall. The following week it will be only you she wants. After that she'll hate baths. They're bizarre little creatures.

I am going through this EXACTLY! I work full-time and DS is in daycare. He is so happy when I drop him off there (which I am grateful for), but a piece of me crumbles each morning when I leave him there for 10 (or so) hours. am always looking for that attention from him (which seems so opposite of what it should be LOL). He loves DH and looks for him constantly but not me. It is the same with friends/other family members. He is so excited when "new" people are around. I just feel like I am missing so much because I am not with him all day.

Babies usually give responsive smiles. Try giving your baby very expressive smiles. Maybe, she is sensing your stress.

I agree with all of the above.

Relax. It's your kid.

Just wait until later when she actually will want others to do stuff for her not you (noooooo papa do it!). That part is fun.

Thank you all for your reassuring comments. I'll keep trying to tell myself that just because she smiles bigger at other people doesn't mean she likes them more. Thanks again!!

She's probably more serious with you because:
1. she's trying to study your face, knows you are important
2. she's bored with looking at you and everyone else is new and different

it won't always be this way.

My DD is 9 months old and there were months at a time I swore my DD didn't like/love/want-to-be-attached-to ME. But I believe I am her favorite person and will only continue to grow and be her favorite person. Sometimes she prefers others, that is just the way it goes.

Maybe trying make new or silly faces at her and see if you get a different reaction. Try odd voices.

I spend all day with my son and as soon as my husband walks thru the door or someone at the supermarket gives him attention he is all smiles and laughing and jumping around. I think he is just bored with me lol

But the things is i'm NOT with her all the time. I dont get home till 5 on week days and she goes to bed at 8. My mom is the one with her all day and she still gets the huge smiles from her. She can't be bored with me and not with my mom if its just a matter of familiarity and time spent with her. Thats what makes me think its something else :(

I wouldn't take it personally...it is just a phase.

but do you play silly games like peek a boo with her? what reaction do you get?
